I really like this backpack. So far whenever I drop any water on it, it doesnt leak through! It doesnt have too many pockets and things, but just the perfect amount to organize things for school, work, and travel. I used it while studying abroad in Costa Rica and it still is in great shape. It kind of gives me dad vibes because my dad had a similarly sized backpack but other than that it looks pretty nice. Hes a little chunkier looking than I would prefer but thats what keeps it in good shape.

Put this puppy on and it made me invisible like John Cena. However if that “review” doesn’t solidify your backpack needs then just know the camo made me disappear like my father leaving to pick up some milk

Cheaper price than in store, same quality. High schooler uses backpack for school and then in the summer fishing and bike riding. Holds up and great quality

This backpack is perfect to pack any tech devices and more into it. I can fit my chromebook laptop, iPad, chargers, and still have space left if I wanted to pack it full. The best part about it is no matter how much you put in there it really doesnt feel overly heavy for some reason. The straps are nice & comfy, zippers seem to be top quality so I dont foresee a problem with those wearing out anytime soon. I find it to be great quality & very durable! I even bought a mini backpack of this same brand to take the place of my purse, I put my phone & charger in it and various other things.

Im a contractor. I know Carhartt makes some good outdoor work clothing, so I thought Id give this bag a try for my sons high school book bag. (Most dont last!). This one is not made of the same material as their jackets and work overalls. Its a type of fabric that Im -hoping- will hold up, but looks like the type of fabric Ive seen fail in other applications. Its way too early to tell. Its also not as big as Id expected. It seems like a comfortable, reasonably well laid out backpack, but honestly, nothing special, and not quite what Id expected from Carhartt. It looks kinda like a cheaper woven nylon pack, in Carhartt tan, with their logo sewn on. Hope Im wrong. Im not trying to bash it, just giving an honest, straight forward review.

Im a senior in high school whose last backpack got shredded over only a year, and wanted something that would last me well into college. I think Ive totally found it. I LOVE this backpack. Its so compact and lightweight, I had no idea how much strain I was putting on my back and shoulders until I started using this backpack. It hardly feels like Im carrying anything at all! Its the perfect size for me. Ive been caught in the pouring rain several times with it on, and the rain just rolls right off, leaving everything almost perfectly dry (a bit damp, but nothing bothersome or problematic, and no moisture actually gets inside). The insides surprisingly stretchy, when I do have to shove more things in than usual, they fit with a bit of squeezing. Ive noticed no wear or fraying in the last handful of months, and its performing just as perfectly as day one. I expect this backpack to last me a long long time. 10/10 recommend to any student!

This is my second Carhartt backpack, only replaced because I lost my first one in a car fire. I have had a lot of backpacks in my life, from 5.11 and camelback tactical packs to Tom Bihn and Original Jansport bags. This backpack is extremely heavy duty, brass ykk zippers that have never failed. Bottle holders hold 1L capacity bottles with ease. This is by far the toughest backpack I’ve ever owned. I wish I had this nice of a bag in my school days. I would have only had to buy one instead of purchasing a new one every year.

2 year update: Still Loving the bag. Its become the designated tech bag for the laptop, accessories, tablet and Kindle. It lives in my vehicle for when Ive got downtime. Original revier: After reading the reviews I decided to pick this bag up instead of the smaller version, glad I did! Bag looks good, materials look and feel good, stitching looks rugged and overall its a great little bag. I was replacing my mil-tech brand assault pack, which looks like any basic military assault pack, but I wanted something a bit smaller. I bought this bag for running to work with my laptop and various gear, which its well suited for. I easily fit my Dell XPS 13 in the laptop sleeve, and I bet itll fit a standard 15 inch laptop, even if its a bit tight. Besides that I keep a smart phone, USB cords, laptop power supply, large logitech mouse, beats bluetooth head phones, a med kit and other junk. I could fit a change of cloths or a jacket as well if need be. I wouldnt take this on a trip, unless I had a second backpack or duffel. My assault pack was great for that use being as expansive as it was, but I didnt want a bag that big for back and forth to work or the coffee shop. I also dont suggest this as a day hike pack. I use my Osprey day pack for hiking, its far better suited for climbing than this bag. Walking around town may be fine, but I can already tell you that the bag will make my back hurt on a real hike (like a day hike up Mt. Monadnock or something). Things I like: The bag looks nice Construction quality looks appropriate Generally minimalist design Curved shoulder straps are comfortable Rubber bottom is a nice option The bag stands on its own, much better than flopping over Constructive Criticism: Ill agree with one of the reviews I read, two zipper pulls on the front pockets would be much better. You need to be conscious of what youre doing when opening the top small pocket, otherwise stuff will fall out. Not a deal breaker, but for future design considerations. Cell phone pocket could be a little bigger, my Galaxy S5 with spigen case is a tight squeeze. Side pockets fit a standard 100ml Nalgene. Again, its a tight fit. Carry handle could be longer, its a little hard to grab with my big mits. Bottom Line: Great bag for my intended purpose. If you want a bag to fly, take on road trips or hike a trail, this is not your best bet. If you need a coffee shop bag for your smaller laptop, plus a handful of accessories, then this thing is great.
