Greater than one weekIts a bit small for my preferences. My old backpack had four pockets instead of three and I kept so much stuff in it. I needed to cut down my inventory a bit to fit it all in here. In my old backpack I kept the following: a pencil case full of writing utensils, a set pan watercolors, a calculator, a toothbrush, a travel first aid kit, a bag of ibuprofen, a bus schedule, a survival guide booklet, two small plastic lizards, a phone, a wallet, a swiss army knife, a small rope, a magnifying glass, two spools of thread and a needle, feminine hygiene products, a large sketchbook, a novel, an ipad mini, a water bottle, an apple and or a granola bar, and all of my notebooks, textbooks, and binders for school. I had to cut down to everything that was absolutely necessary for me. I made it work. It feels and looks great. Ive had it for about a month now and its held up perfectly so far (as to be expected). The tablet and laptop pockets are nice as well. I dont have a laptop yet but it seems like it will work well. The side pockets are sturdy and big enough to hold my 1000ml water bottle snugly. Like I said, its a bit small for me but I like to keep a lot of crap in my backpack. For a normal human who doesnt carry two small plastic lizards and a set of watercolors with them constantly, it should work fine.

> 3 dayIm a senior in high school whose last backpack got shredded over only a year, and wanted something that would last me well into college. I think Ive totally found it. I LOVE this backpack. Its so compact and lightweight, I had no idea how much strain I was putting on my back and shoulders until I started using this backpack. It hardly feels like Im carrying anything at all! Its the perfect size for me. Ive been caught in the pouring rain several times with it on, and the rain just rolls right off, leaving everything almost perfectly dry (a bit damp, but nothing bothersome or problematic, and no moisture actually gets inside). The insides surprisingly stretchy, when I do have to shove more things in than usual, they fit with a bit of squeezing. Ive noticed no wear or fraying in the last handful of months, and its performing just as perfectly as day one. I expect this backpack to last me a long long time. 10/10 recommend to any student!

Greater than one weekRugged. I find that it carries my computer (15 inch Dell), paper files, field books, phones, warm extra clothes, tupperwared food, etc. for my workday. Vey comfortable to wear. I have to walk from a parking lot to my job trailer (1 mile) and this pack carries every thing I need for the day. Being in construction it is stylish too. Echoing other reviews it would be better if the outer zipped pockets had two zippers. The water proof bottom is a great feature and if you pack it right with a bulky item in the bottom it will stand upright when you set it down and not flop over. The side mesh pockets are big enough to hold a 30 oz Atlin mug and on the the other side a safety glass case and folding umbrella. I do believe it would make a good day pack for bushwhacking in the wild on your days off.

> 3 dayThis backpack was worth every cent. My son started using this in January of his 7th grade year (2017). I was so sick of buying backpacks that wouldn’t hold up to ‘destruct-o boy’. This weekend May 29, 2022 that boy has graduated high school and the backpack is still in nice shape. He says he’s taking it to college. Carhartt, you done good with this one!
