I bought this drive to upgrade from a smaller Crucial SSD in a desktop. I ran the Crucial software available on their site and it indicated this would work in my computer before I placed the order.. The computer is home built and the MB and CPU are now 8 years old - but its quad core and still quite fast. I tried twice to use the cloning software, and tried twice to do a fresh install. I probably called Crucial 10 times over a two day period, and they were very helpful. The last individual I spoke to indicated some changes that could possibly make this work, but they would affect how I use the computer, so I elected to return the drive (at his suggestion). Doesnt mean its not a great drive - its just that it may not work in an older system unless you are tech savvy and can determine the work around.. I have easily installed four other Crucial SSDs in my laptop and this same desktop, and they work flawlessly, as does the memory I purchased from Crucial to upgrade that part of the computer.

Going on over six months and it hasnt failed me. Make a huge difference in performance. Spent a lot of time deciding between different ones and glad I picked the Crucial MX300. Well worth the price.

My 2011 Mac Mini was running unbelievably slow. Im talking spinning wheel just trying to open a file on the desktop. Time machine wouldnt even do a backup and error codes would pop-up every time I tried to reinstall the OS. I took a leap and diagnosed my computer with a dying hard drive. I ordered the crucial and then installed it hoping it would fix my slow as molasses computer. HOLY CRAP. This SSD has solved every one of my issues. Boot up is extremely fast, and everything installed from my latest backup with no issues. Files and folders open instantaneously. It feels like a brand new Mac. Heck, it even feels faster than the new 2016 macs. How is this possible? I dont know and Im not going to question it. I just know Ill be buying Crucial Memory from here on out.

I got this on sale for $100, and for that price this is an absolute steal, and honestly I would have been willing to pay more for it. Speed isnt blazing, but its slotted in between TLC SSDs and MLC SSDs and can often be had for TLC SSD price. This is especially great for my itx build, where I dont have the luxury of space to fit spinning platter drives but still want a decent amount of storage. Hasnt stopped working after a couple months, so no immediate reliability issues are present.

Didnt work in my lenovo laptop as this product demands higher amp: 5v 2.1A - which was making windows 10 OS freeze. I finally installed an Intel drive, 5v 1A, which works fine. I do not recommend this product as this may damage the notebook hardware.

Excellent drive. Got it for an extreme deal on Black Friday for $99. Couldnt be happier. I use it for games as a secondary drive in my PC. Speeds are to be expected from a tier 2 brand of SSDs but its still light years above HDD.

Crucial will honor the warranty, but I am down a laptop in the mean time, so I will have to buy an extra drive until the replacement arrives, and that will cost me $350 because I refuse to take another chance with Crucial. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION<<>> PRODUCT IS STARTING TO FAIL TO WORK PROPERLY BEFORE THE FIRST 5 DAYS HAVE ELAPSED! IT TAKES 3 ATTEMPTS TO BOOT UP NOW, AND IT IS PROGRESSIVELY GETTING WORSE. FILES ARE STARTING TO RENAME THEMSELVES OR MOVE INTO OTHER UNRELATED FILES! I BOUGHT TWO SSDs. ONE SAMSUMG AND ONE CRUCIAL. THE SAMSUNG IS IN A VERY SIMILAR LAPTOP AND IT WORKS GREAT! THIS CRUCIAL DRIVE IS FAILING FAST! UPDATE! NOW THE COMPUTER ONLY BOOTS UP 1 IN 3 TRYS, SO DIG OUT ANOTHER $120-$220 AND SPEND THE EXTRA MONEY ON A SAMSUNG EVO OR PRO. So far so good. If you clone from another drive, be sure to DEFEAT ANY PASSWORD OR PIN NUMBER REQUIREMENTS to access your laptop, or desktop, BEFORE YOU clone the drive, and BE SURE YOUR BIOS IS UP TO DATE, or it may not even see this drive. If the ESATA cord does not work, try USB. Be sure you do NOT NEED ANY PASSWORD OR PIN TO OPEN WINDOWS< AND GET ONLINE, BEFORE YOU CLONE!!! If you are just loading a new OS and programs from a fresh start, proceed as usual. The price point on these is an exceptional value. Time will tell, but we shall be utilizing some diagnostic software to attempt to detect a prefail condition BEFORE the SSD fails. Disc drives can and will give prefail error codes, and SSDs are starting to utilize some similar diagnostics looking for dead sections, logging, and counting them. Drive cloned in about 6 hours, but when installed in the used laptop, the laptop as for a password, which was NOT the same as the pin on the laptop it was cloned from. Go into the boot sequence directory. and type in instructions for the computer to boot to normal windows, and not into the safe mode. After that it will ask for your proper pin number. The hardware dictates the PIN so that wont help you until you get into the CDW write & make some changes so lose the pins & passwords, and re-enable them after you install your cloned drive!!!

Got this drive to upgrade an Asus laptop that I recently purchased. I was migrating from an older Asus Laptop and I had also purchased a USB to SATA cable to image the drive. I found out that you cannot image the drive through a USB and have it bootable. Both machines were running Windows 10. I used Macrium Reflect free for doing a backup of my old drive to another external hard drive over USB. I then created a USB boot drive using the utility in Macrium Reflect (boot and recovery/restore tools)...set the BIOS in my new laptop to boot from the USB drive...installed the Crucial drive in my new laptop...booted using the USB drive...and then restored the three partitions from the backup (separate USB drive) to the new Crucial drive. I then used the utility to fix the boot sector (1st partition) then shut down the computer. I then crossed my fingers and rebooted...it booted normally and discovered the new hardware and installed the correct drivers. I found that you must have the SSD drive hooked up to a SATA interface and do a restore instead of cloning the old drive directly (I had tried this first without success). I hope this helps anyone looking to upgrade their laptop.

    Greater than one week

After successfully updating another MacBook Pro (#1) with a Samsung 500GB Internal SSD successfully, I wanted to update another MacBook Pro (#2) with this 750GB SSD from Crucial. I updated the other in November 2015 and it is running without a glitch. With this Crucial, (#2) runs much faster as expected. However, about 4 weeks after install, I started noticing a lot of random shutdowns and spinning globes. I didnt think much of it until these episodes became more frequent. I started running DiskUtility and each time I run it, there is some kind of corruption error or incorrect block count error or invalid free block cont, which DiskUtility seems to successfully repair. Then 1 minute later, a new error appears. Now the random shutdowns are almost daily with no hint of when it will happen. Meanwhile, (#1) which is 3 years older and a less powerful MacBook keeps working perfectly with never an error on DiskUtility. I may have flawed Crucial SSD, but it may just be a cheaper product. Unfortunately, I am past the 30 day Amazon replacement window, so I will try contacting Crucial to see how they honor their warranty. I will update this as I interact with Crucial directly. I give it 2 stars just because of the speed increase. However, stay away from it.

Put this in my PS4 and couldnt be happier. The drive is fast and I havent had any problems with it so far. Games load much much much faster and there is a huge difference in system performance verses the drive the PS4 came with. Why doesnt PlayStation just ship their consoles with drives like this already in place? Very happy with the performance, and wouldnt hesitate at purchasing the drive again. Glad I did.

Increase the speed, durability, and efficiency of your system for years to come with the Crucial MX300 SSD.
