Darn Tough Vermont Hiker 1/4 Socks Cushion

Darn Tough makes a great pair of socks. These fit true to size and have the same high-quality standards I am accustomed to receiving every time. Get yourself a couple pairs of these and a couple pair of some longer ones if youre in a colder climate and youll be set for the foreseeable future. The only breakdown I have ever experienced was caused by my shoes breaking down and rubbing the socks thin. Other than that, comfortable, smooth sailing.

Strands of yarn are sticking out from the sock, and the sock is pilling very easily; though, I might have unrealistic expectations here. Sock also seems to regulate temperature well, and doesnt smell badly after a day of use.

First, make sure you are wearing the correct size shoes. I have used these on all day backpacking trips, the most recent being in steep up and down terrain trails, with my trail runners and these socks extremely wet most of the trek from numerous water crossings. Not once did I ever come even close to developing a blister nor a “hot spot”. I have some older ones that I wear in and outside of my homes like house shoes, and they show very little wear and tear.

After less than a year the socks shrunk with normal washing. They are not wearable. They may be designated dam tough socks but cannot stand a normal wash.

Im slowly replacing my DH socks--these are so expensive but they help cushion his diabetic feet. The heavy duty ones are to thick for him to wear with shoes, these are a bit tight with shoes--well see.

There is no way XL size is up to 14.5 US size. At best its 12-13. They also shrink a bot after washing/drying cycle. Buy a bigger size.

I bought 2 pairs of these 1/4 socks, having had the full length socks in the past and been satisfied. However, in less than 10 wearing, the part of the sock covering the instep was completely worn on both pairs. I wore these socks with an oxford style hiking boot, and the activity was extremely light. Id steer clear of these expensive socks which dont last.

These are very high quality socks that really cushion my feet. They are great for hiking or any other activity where there can be wear and tear on your feet. They hold up wash after wash. They are as they say, pretty Darn Tough.
