> 24 hourWe are prepping for an overseas move and I recently realized two things: 1) I didn’t want to risk decades of memorabilia (photos, drawings, documents, etc.) and files getting lost or damaged in transit; and 2) I really wanted to shrink the physical footprint of all this “stuff.” I decided it high time to digitize. We had a couple of scanners already in our household—well, devices with scanning capabilities anyway: one printer/copier with a decent flatbed scanner and a printer/copier with auto feed capable of duplex scanning. But neither was ideal for scanning hundreds of photos (a big chunk of my pile) or had the speed necessary to turn my daydream into reality in an efficient manner. I checked into professional digitization services, but couldn’t didn’t want to send my items away for weeks. Again, I was leery of something going wrong in transit. And even if someone else scanned everything, I was still going to have to sort through it all at some point, organizing and separating the true keepers from the “yes, it’s time to let this stuff go.” So I found myself hunting online for a duplex scanner with multi-page auto-feed, one equally good with photos and paperwork. Enter Doxie Pro. The cost was kind of hard to justify at first. I’m the kind of person who generally believes in spending the least amount of money necessary to get something done—and did I mention that we already have two other pieces of equipment that have adequately met all our scanning needs up til now? But when I counted up exactly how many photos/pages I wanted to digitize and estimated the cost for any of the online services I’d looked into… I found myself in the same ballpark as simply buying a Doxie Pro. Huh. I could avoid the shipping risks, get things done at my own pace (in other words, *guarantee* it gets done before we leave the country), and once the project was done, I’d be left with a pretty darn cool little piece of equipment to either carry along with me or pass on to someone else. So I went for it. And wow. I was initially sold on Doxie Pro by the online reviews, but the real thing, sitting here on my dining room table, has exceeded my expectations. Super easy set-up. Amazing customer support. (Not that I’ve needed it; this thing works like a dream. But Doxie has checked in with me a couple of times since the unit arrived—in a non-invasive, friendly way—to be sure I am happy with the product. Any questions? Feedback? They seriously care.) I made the mistake of showing off my amazing Doxie Pro to my sister, and now she wants to have a scanning party for her own memorabilia. I suspect my mom may be the next in line. So just beware… Once the word gets out that you eliminated boxes’ worth of old memorabilia and actually had fun doing so, friends and family may start asking to borrow your Dixie Pro, too. You may find yourself torn between wanting to help them out and wanting to keep this little gem all to yourself.

> 24 hourSolid little document scanner! Especially appreciate the auto duplex scanning and 20 sheet capacity. My biggest hurdle to staying paperless has simply been keeping up with the constant stream of incoming paper from businesses that still insist on using paper/mail in 2022. The scanning speed was a bit faster than I expected. Software is easy to use. My only negative is that it isnt wireless so it has to live with/next to a computer. At any rate I love this thing and its a fraction of the cost of the big guys scanners.

> 24 hourI was looking for something to scan photos, and although this is not exclusively a photo scanner it got such good reviews I thought Id try it out. It is very easy to operate, the software is great, and customer service is excellent. For photo scanning, you can set up a custom scan profile that scans only the front of the picture (the default is to scan both sides). If you encounter any issues with the device or software, simply restarting the device seems to resolve it. For example: one time the pictures were being pulled in only part-way, but I restarted it and it completely resolved. Ive probably scanned upwards of 1,000 pictures at this point, and Im still extremely happy with the scanner. Regarding their customer service: Doxie set up a call with me to answer any questions and to get feedback on my experience. When I mentioned I was also using it to scan old newspaper clippings, they mailed me some photo sleeves (plus a gift card to thank me for my time and feedback -- Im mentioning this for full disclosure, but it didnt impact this review).

> 24 hourThe software is seamless on my Mac. So much easier than any snap scan software I’ve tried. It’s fast and has options for getting exactly what you’re looking for out of a scan. I just had to scan 200+ contracts and it was actually fun. The Doxie team reached out almost immediately after purchase to check on my satisfaction of purchase. I had already bought the case but they sent me some photo sheets as a gift. I’m def a fan and have already mentioned and recommended it to other coordinators on set. Worth the buy.

> 24 hourJust received the Doxie Pro scanner today. It arrived in a sturdy box well packed for transport. All parts were present and all folding/moving parts were taped down and secure. The device comes with a cardboard instruction sheet but I used the online instructions. Setup was quick and easy with software available online. I have always used flatbed scanners but really wanted to save desktop space with this small scanner. The Doxie Pro worked immediately on my iMac with no glitches at all. The accompanying software is user friendly and allows for custom configuration. I suggest you check out the System Settings to fine tune the software. The scanner can handle up to 20 paper sheets. Thick sheets need to be fed one at a time. Color replication was good with a max of 600dpi. Overall I really like this scanner. Its friendly, sturdy, compact and efficient.
