Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 Student Edition [Old Version]

I normally do not rate a product because of a problem outside of the functionality of the product itself. But the verification process that Dragon has for the Student Edition needs to be changed. It simply pisses off a customer who just dropped $100 on their software. You cannot install the product without a serial number. You need to submit verification to a third party website to get the serial number, if there is a problem of any sort, they do not respond in a timely fashion - if at all. If Dragon was wise, they should allow you to at least install the product and have it functional for 30 days. This will allow you to use the product until you can get by the labyrinth of requirements to get the serial number. This way you can use the product when it arrives at your door. After 5 days of sheer frustration, I returned the software and I am using the native speech recognition in Windows 7. Nuance is $100 poorer for it and I will never buy another one of their products until they change this horrible process to install their product.

It is a lot better now but I still like this version and it still works! It is a lil difficult to train but if you got time it is great!

Its very convenient to just talk and it types... like having an assistant write your dictation... Software takes a while to learn your voice and pronunciation so dont expect perfection at first... Overall, it is a welcomed tool on my computer, convenient, and time-saving...

So I just bought this item 22FEB2012 and tried to go to the website to register as a student to get my serial number to start the software but the website provided is down. I am glad that Nuance offers a student discount but if you dont want a bunch of bad reviews on your product and services you may want to get your registration website up and running. I immediately went to the main Nuance homepage to chat but that individual is just a sales rep and then only gave me a non-tollfree number to call...classic! Sadly they close at 6pm weekdays. Update 1: Website is up and running but very slowly. I was able to register and the serial number showed up really quick once I provided my .edu email address. I owned a previous version of this software so I will send out a second update once I have finished the papers that are due on Monday. Nuance reps FYA: Since I know you read these reviews, you should think about giving a trial period to register the product of say 10 days and then disable the software. This would help minimize these types of posts.

This software has saved my life!!! I love it...I am a fulltime student and I work partime. And I have to write papers all the time but I dont type. So it took me extra long..this program helps with that trmendously. Now all I do is write it out then speak it .....what took me hours takes me less than one hour..... Some things to consider, the headset that comes with it SUCKS your accuracy will be way off if you stick with it. I had to buy another one of better quality-- I now get 99% accuracy I had no problem getting my log in since I bought the student version and when i had a problem customer service@ Dragon was helpfull and walked me through the set up process without a hassle. Overall the program is great!!!! saves you alot of time.

Very poor service. the product I cannot rate because I could never use it. I bought it, tried to jump through the rediculiuos hoops to get a code and never could. Called customer service which took forever to get a hold of. I finally got somebody with an american sounding name that could hardly speak english. They wanted more money to give me a code. I imediately sent their product back.

my daughter is doing great with this product. She even started to dictate a story in addition to her homework. It really is amazing how quickly you can train dragon to your voice.

I have started using this product in the last half-hour and Im already using it to write the review. This software has quickly started recognizing my dictation. Activation was real simple provided you had a student e-mail account ending with a .edu. In my experience, it took me less than 5 min. to jump through the activation hoops. Others may have experienced problems because they did not have a EDU e-mail account. To my mind, this is a basic requirement that should be met. If someone does not have an EDU account it is very difficult to believe that he is a student. Student software then becomes a joke. The premium version of this software has been well reviewed by others on this site. I therefore do not have much to add to the review. Im enjoying using the software and I will report any problems if I should encounter any.
