This software has saved my life!!! I love it...I am a fulltime student and I work partime. And I have to write papers all the time but I dont type. So it took me extra long..this program helps with that trmendously. Now all I do is write it out then speak it .....what took me hours takes me less than one hour..... Some things to consider, the headset that comes with it SUCKS your accuracy will be way off if you stick with it. I had to buy another one of better quality-- I now get 99% accuracy I had no problem getting my log in since I bought the student version and when i had a problem customer service@ Dragon was helpfull and walked me through the set up process without a hassle. Overall the program is great!!!! saves you alot of time.

I ordered this Student/Teacher version because Im a college instructor. Obtaining the serial number was not a problem. However, the DVD I received is warped, emits a loud clicking noise in my computers DVD drive (the same noise is audible on two other systems so the problem is clearly a defective disk), and it is unable to read the disk to install the program. Thats when I had the misfortune of contacting Benjamin in customer service. He is semi-literate in English and apparently located somewhere in India. He asked for all my order data from Amazon (order number, etc.). He even listened to the loud clicking of the disk in the drive, and agreed it sounded like there was clearly something wrong with the disk. Then some additional hoops to jump through: 1. E-mail him screenshots of the Windows Explorer interface to prove that my computer cant fully read all the files on the warped disk. 2. E-mail him digital photographs of the disk itself (top and edge) to prove that I have an authentic disk and prove that it is warped. Okay, this was a strange request, but using my digital camera not too much of a problem if it would have satisfied Nuance and gotten me on the road to receiving a new disk. Were these thoughts ever naive. 3. Ben replies. He now wants the POP proof of purchased of the Dragon 12 that came from Amazon. Huh? What exactly does POP proof of purchased mean, and why wasnt it requested during the original phone call? I send him a screen shot of my order record from my Amazon account and the scanned barcode label from the box. (Maybe the latter is what he meant by proof of purchased [sic]?) 4. Ben replies again. This time he wants the email from amazon indicated the the payment you made from them if there is please attached it with this email as you reply. LOL. This reads like work from one of my grade-F students. Again, if this is what was required, why wasnt it clearly requested in the original phone call? I forwarded him the original invoice e-mail. I made a little wager with myself that this would magically prove insufficient as well. Sure enough, it did. 5. Sorry its me again, as i can see in your screenshot [sic] of the email you got from amazon one last favor, can you please take a screenshot also of that the same email but open the VIEW INVOICE option. Take a screenshot of an e-mail he already has right in front of him and at the same time click some link. Boy, that sure makes sense. Sorry, but Im now done with this: from the bizarre request for photographs of the defective disk, to one illiterate and cryptic request after the other. Anyway, Ben made clear on the original call (after we had spent about 5 minutes entering my Amazon order information into his system) that the system screenshots showing the disk as unreadable along with the disk photos would be sufficient. Now theres another new and nebulous obstacle course to run every day. I am a very busy college instructor who doesnt have time for this. If I dont receive a response from this review within a week from a literate adult at Nuance, I will immediately initiate a chargeback on my credit card and look at other options, particularly Windows Speech Recognition. Not only is it free, but its been reported to be a decent program with even more improvements expected on the forthcoming Windows 8. Ive been a solid Dragon customer since version 9, but after this experience Im done with Nuance.

The product does Not come with a serial number. You are instructed to go on line and submit your information and the product number. A few business days later you will get an email that will ask for a copy of your student ID card and other personal information in order to be granted a serial number so that you can continue with the long enrollment process before you will be able to use their product. I submitted everything they asked for but it is now several weeks later after purchase and the customer service people keep emailing me that they have not received my student ID information. I have numerous outgoing emails that I sent to these jokers proving that I did submit my student ID and the other personal private financial information that they requested, but still I have not received a serial number from them. The makers of this product are scam artists. I believe now that there is no way that their product could possibly work. Do not waste your time or money on this product! It is just not worth it. I gave them 1 star because there was no option for a zero star or a negative star. This company is very bad.

Buyer beware! Have you paid for this software, you cannot download it unless you get a code from an itinerary organisation, and if you are not someone from the big time school or university they will deny you the code in your money has been wasted! Do you not buy this

This program has made writing papers for grad school so much better! I absolutely love not having to type every word. So far, its been accurate and very easy to use. I havent tried it with anything other than Microsoft Word, but so far love having it.

Verifying my student identity to get the serial number was easy and only took a few minutes online. Setting up the program was easy. This program is demanding on the CPU. I recommend not running any unnecessary programs while installing and using this software. The microphone it comes with works horribly with this software. I was very disappointed with the software at first until I realized that the microphone was the problem. Know that you are going to have to invest $80-$120 in a good headset or microphone in order for this program to work optimally. I use the SteelSeries Siberia V2 headset in combination with an Audio to USB adapter. With this setup, Dragon recognizes my speech flawlessly with minimal training. Dragon will automatically adapt your user profile to you as you use it. It will look at all of your documents and learn the most common words and phrases that you use. It is incredibly easy and quick to teach it words and phrases that it doesnt recognize. Train it while using it, then get right back to work in no time! The commands are intuitive and customizable. I am a college student and this program has been a life-saver. I take notes so much faster by dictating, even though I can type incredibly fast. I have so much more free time now. For those who have never used dictation software before, I found the following website helpful for many useful tips. [...].

I never write reveiws. After reading the strong negatives regarding the registration process, I had to write to about my experience. VERY FAST AND EASY WITH AN EDU EMAIL ACCOUNT. The serial number was IMMEDIATELY emailed. It took me less than 5 mins. to register and recieve my serial number. It took another 5 mins. to download it and I am off an running. I plan on using it for my dissertation. Will post an update.

The Dragon software is great. The process for verifying that you are purchasing the software for a student is terrible. I bought Dragon NaturallySpeaking Premium 11 Student Edition on January 9, it was delivered on January 11, and I installed it that evening. They have a process for verifying that the product is for a student which is inconvenient, but understandable. They want a copy of the students report card, which I gave them. For weeks, I received no response, and so was forced to pay for an alternative solution. Today, I got an email from identit-e Customer Service [[email protected]], that says Your request for eligibility has been placed on hold pending receipt of proof of eligibility. The program rules indicate that we must receive the required eligibility information within 15 days or this request will be rejected. I found the eligibility verification process onerous, poorly designed, non responsive, inconvenient, and in the end, non-functional. I found myself wishing that the product description warned about this process so I could have spend a few extra dollars and avoided the hassle. Thats why Im writing this so try to save someone else from this trap. Im sending the software back today.

Its very convenient to just talk and it types... like having an assistant write your dictation... Software takes a while to learn your voice and pronunciation so dont expect perfection at first... Overall, it is a welcomed tool on my computer, convenient, and time-saving...
