It works, wiring to short

It is a solidly built unit. The four leads (two for 240 V, white ground, and green eqpt. ground) are all about 12 inches long. Typically, this unit would be meant for surge protection on a whole house and would be installed on the side of the main electrical panel. A 50 amp double pole breaker is recommended for its connection to the main bus in the panel. The leads are relatively short, so that when the unit reacts to a voltage surge, they will present minimal impedance. A location on the side of our panel was selected, so that the leads would reach the 50 amp breaker and the ground bus without being lengthened. Since surges are rare here, it may take a long time to know how well it works--maybe wont ever know, because it may kill small surges without evidence that it did its job.

I purchased two CHSPT2ULTRAs in my pre-Amazon days from Home Depot in 2013, one for each service panel in my house. In 2022, a surge destroyed 2 circuit boards in my ACs, with repairs in excess of $2000. Eaton paid for the parts and labor to replace my circuit boards AND 2 new ULTRAs, which they provided at no charge. Working with them was great and straightforward, even though the case had to remain open for 4 months while waiting on parts. I cannot overstate how pleased and impressed I am with the company and with their support organization. HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

Research suggests this is a great unit, its fully isolated so it can be installed inside the panel box. We ended up sending it back because the pigtails are coming out the top and we thought they would be out the back
