> 24 hourWith previous wiring experience, this went in no problem. Now that Ive installed a whole house Surge Protection Device, well never get a bad surge again lol One comment; The male threads on the Surge device are not the same a standard 1/2 NPT. I re-did the threads on the female adaptor.

> 24 hourThis is the second home I have installed one of these surge protectors on. My lesson learned is that breaker placement matters. My last home, I attached the surge protector to the bottom of my panel, the wires only accommodated a breaker that was also at the bottom of the panel; not the top as the instructions recommend. I would still see my lighting dim when large appliances or vacuums would turn on. With our new home, I drilled a hole in the side of my panel so the breaker could be located at the top of the panel as recommended in the instructions. I moved the existing breakers to the bottom instead. I no longer have power fluctuations or lights dimming when appliances turn on and off. It has been great. Love this product.

> 24 hourDont understand why there are a number of complaints re wire length. Mounted on the side of the panel there is more than enough wire length to reach the breaker and ground bar. A breeze to install and no problem with the wires being thick enough for the 50 amp breaker to secure onto. Just hope it really works if the need arises.

> 24 hourIf you live in a summer thunderstorms state like North Carolina - you would be pretty ignorant not to have this device installed at your main electrical breaker box. After I lost my TV and a few other valuable electronics/appliances one night after hard thunderstorm - I had a conversation with my electrician. He said that he installs these for people that learn it a hard way like myself or anyone that cares for their investment. Very easy to install but dont try doing it yourself, unless you are in a construction trade and comfortable doing it yourself. It can get pretty dicey if you dont know much about electrical work!

> 24 hourGave it 4 out of 5 stars only due to uncertainty. Had a lightning strike before ordering it which did a lot of damage. Had a second lightning strike only a few days after installing it and adding a supplemental ground rod. Second strike took out a florescent shop light ballast in the barn and the power supply to one of our DirecTV receivers in the house but nothing as serious as the first strike. Would like to think the reduction in damage was due to the new surge protector.
