> 3 dayBuyer Beware: This unit is advertised as water resistant and is represented as a solar tracker actuator. It is not even remotely water resistent if installed with the ram up. there are no seals on the ram end, and mine filled with water and had corrosion (limit switch) failure in a month, even though mostly sheltered. Indoor use would likely be fine. Look for an IP65 unit (or better) for outdoor use. Still in discussion with seller, but I doubt Ill get a replacement. IP65 unit:

> 3 dayWorked for a few weeks and then bent for whatever reason. The only thing I can think of is that my turkey (maybe 40lbs at the time) jumped up onto the open door, and caused the bend. The actuator was pushing straight down, going up over a wall and pulling the door up at an angle (think upside down U of cable), with nothing to catch on anywhere remotely close, everything moved freely. Was lifting a 15 lb door, and thats being very, VERY generous on its weight. Loved it while it was working, but Im not about to replace it given my experience.

> 3 dayIt takes about 90s to reach the extents of its 16 travel open/close, which is fine but, it makes a rather loud whine as it operates.

> 3 dayI built a solar tracker with 2 of these actuators. Regulated voltage, much less than 25% duty cycle (10 seconds every 10 minutes) with a perfectly balanced (125lb total weight), bearing rack. The panels can be easily moved with a single finger with less than 5 lbs pressure. One motor is shorting when moving in one direction but not the other as if the brushes are broken. These motors worked very well until it broke. Amp draw was less than 0.5a when running.. sure sounds like a build quality issue.

> 3 dayUsing this to open a chain link gat that closes my chicken coop. It works well and has a lot of force. However, at least twice the motor has failed to rotate, it seems its bound up in the gearbox. I light tap on the motor and it starts turning, but it defeats the purpose if I have to go out there to check it every night.

> 3 dayI never had a chance to try this actuator. The first one I ordered was inoperative right out of the box. I checked the leads with and ohm meter and it was open circuit, applying power no movement, so I sent it back thinking it was a fluke. The second unit I received did the same, no continuity and did not work. After returning them both I ordered (from a different manufacturer) a more expensive and hopefully functional actuator from Amazon.
