I set out to learn flamingo but after working with Guitar For Dummies it soon became clear I had a ways to go. I have certainly found this helpful in learning chords and some strumming and have enjoyed using this program. Its easy to use and if you have as little knowledge as I do about guitar (other than having spent a great deal at a swap meet on a beautiful instrument the musician selling it said is specifically designed for flamingo) you will get a lot out of this. I am deducting one star because Guitar For Dummies doesnt get into the style and fiery passion of flamingo and I found that disappointing. However, I can see now that a basic foundation is almost essential and its going to take me while before I can master the true art form that is flamingo guitar. I cant help buy feel I was misled a bit at the swap meet because when I bought both this program and the guitar I was assured this is all I would really need. That is in no way the fault of the Guitar For Dummies program and has more to do with my own impatience to fulfill my dream. I do feel that I am making progress.

I purchased this pack because of a few songs that I would like to learn, and reading on it said there were over 250 songs to learn, but the songs they have are more like twinkle twinkle little star. type stuff, there are a few songs that make the grade. Like Peaceful Easy Feeling by the Eagles. and a few other blues tunes. but you can find these songs anywhere.

I bought this for my husband, who is learning to play the guitar; and, managed to lose the CD provided with the original Guitar for Dummies book. He didnt even want to open the package because then you cant send it back and because he is not very computer savvy. Long story short: the first lesson convinced him this is the way to learn. Chords are clearly presented, played so finger position is displayed and then chords are used in a song. Computer savvy is obviously not a necessary ingredient! Presents the basics in an easy, interesting and musical way. Now I have to wait (interminably) to use the computer.

As stated, if you are a beginner who doesnt even know how to string a guitar, have trust that youll learn here. From simple folk songs, like Clementine to Knockin on heavens door (by both Bob Dylan and Guns and Roses) youll learn by playing. It comes with a metronome to help you learn the beat, a tuner (and by comes with I mean, it uses your microphone on your computer, so youre best to actually buy a real tuner) and a full chord chart.

Ill admit right here that Ive not spent too much time with this. The content is pretty good from what I have seen, but in my opinion this doesnt hold anything that cant be found freely on the internet via youTube etc.

it is good for starters but i feel that still you need way more staff to learn so even for starter this can not help so much

The Guitar For Dummies CD-ROM is an interactive set of lessons in basic guitar techniques. Id stress the basic - working through this is not going to make anyone the next Hendrix or Clapton. Itll give you a basic set of techniques and chords, and you learn a few simple tunes, but the final page of the lessons is a plug for the intermediate course.
