The fist generation had a pass through plug. Always on. This one, both are controlled, not separately but both are either on or off. Love the light to show you if it is on, miss the pass through plug. 15 Amp so you can run a line voltage heater (space heater) with it. Works great with ADT Pulse. Pairing is a piece of cake.

I purchased this expecting that two wirelessly controlled grounded outlets meant two _independently-controllable_ outlets. It does not. It is not mentioned anywhere in the text of this products description (although it is in fine print in the images lower on the page), but the two outlets on this device are only able to be controlled together. This was definitely a frustration. That fact should have been made more clear in the products description or the name. 2018 Addendum: I see that now the product name and description both clearly mention that the outlets are controlled _together_, which is nice.

Used to control light in front yard. Programming was easy and it works great.

Use it with my Smart Things hub and it works perfectly

These GE Zwave on / off plugs are the best. I have tried and returned the cheaper ones but wont do it again. Spend the extra couple bucks and forget the hassles and drop-offs.

When will I learn. Ive used other GE SmartThings compatible devices before, switches, indoor/outdoor outlets mostly. Sometimes they connect right away sometime they take multiple repeated attempts, and in the case of this device, it never was recognized by my SmartThing hub. My recommendation is to stay away from GE devices , I tried this one in desperation, its the only device of this type I could find for my desired use. Other Z-Wave compatible brands have been excellent, they just dont carry the variety of devices I need, come on Samsung, get some devices on the market!

After quite a bit of research I bought a few of these to replace Wemo smart plugs. The Wemo’s kept disconnecting from wifi and often even went back into setup mode, which made them incredibly unreliable (Only devices on my network that kept disconnecting). I bought these only recently but they’ve been perfect. Setup took under a minute each and they seem to work great with my SmartThings hub (connected into Home Assistant). They aren’t as slim or sleek looking as the wemo’s, in fact they’re relatively on the large side. But having the plugs on the sides allows you to put furniture closer to the wall/socket, and despite their size I can easily connect bulky 3 prong plugs underneath them. Really happy with the purchase.

ring setup tips-- I couldnt find anywhere else (quickly), so thought I would share here -- to add, select security (not smart plug -- since that is ring) then scroll down to works with ring -- then, to switch new devices to be on the extender, just trigger them once or twice and/or use the connect button and then the signal warning icon in the individual sensor summary screen (battery, alerts on / off page, etc.) should go away (ring support-- please add this to the summary line, after the word closed-- low signal so its easier to find which devices need troubleshooting)

Works well with ADT Command. You don’t need to contact ADT. You can install and delete it from your account with the ADT software, provided you are a subscribed customer and under a contract. There is a slight delay when turning the switch on from a cell phone but that seems normal. Other than that this device is rock solid. I have 7 of these with different options. None have failed in the past year. I recommend.

This outlet is great, low profile with plugs on the side. Makes toggling my other less cooperative smart devices easier.
