Greater than one weekI will first state that this is my second GE outdoor Z-Wave switch, I also own the Gen 1 model as well. Similarities between Gen 1 and Gen 2: 1. Lets just start with this. Either model will just work and work well, Ive had no issues. They easily connected to my Hubitat hub. They are both obviously outside and so not exactly super close to my Hubitat hub but Ive never had an issue with them losing connection or not working. 2. They both have physical on/off buttons Why is Gen 2 better then Gen 1: 1. Smaller 2. Includes the ability to mount to something 3. Removes the stupid rubber plug cover Gen 1 has that is literally useless Connecting to Hubitat hub and usage: I had no problems connecting this to my Hubitat hub. I plugged it in near the hub, Hubitat picked it up right away and it was added. From there I added it to my controls and processes and it just works flawlessly. Theres nothing really more to say about this product, its a simple outdoor Z-wave plug. It just works and doesnt add complication. If you are looking for a outdoor Z-wave plug to control things like lights, holiday lights or decorations or similar this should be high on your list. Others products might be cheaper or have 2 plugs instead of just one (I saw a few when looking for a second plug) but I went with this one out of a little fear those other generic name brand plugs might cause me more of a headache in the end by giving me issues with my hub, disconnections or not always responding to commands. I cant tell you if that fear is warranted, I can tell you this is my second GE Z-wave outdoor plug and Ive used Gen 1 for over a year and now Gen 2 through this years holidays with no issues to speak of. My Hubitat hub automatically knew what this device was and used the GE Enbrighten Z-Wave Smart Switch driver that Hubitat has built in, no need to use the generic driver or add a driver. I am currently running Hubitat v2.2.4.158. When I originally added the Gen 1 plug last year Hubitat did not have this specific GE driver and instead used the generic plug driver, which also worked just fine so you should be set either way.

> 3 dayI still have 2 of the first generation that function 100% perfectly with no issues. I bought 2 of the second generation but have only used one of them so far. I used the second generation one all last summer and it functioned fine except that every week or so, it would just stop responding and I had to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work properly again. However, I never had that issue with the first generation even in the same location with the same application.

> 3 dayThis outlet is great, low profile with plugs on the side. Makes toggling my other less cooperative smart devices easier.

> 3 dayEDIT: Please note that the seller has substituted a completely different product in this listing from the one I originally bought. This is generally done in order to artificially inflate ratings for a product. My review is in reference to an indoor plug. Any reviews here that do not specify they are for the outdoor plug do not apply. I bought a couple of these over a year ago and meant to write a review but never quite got around to it. They’re not fancy, just a couple of plugs, and have worked reliably all this time so I seldom even think about them. I needed another Z-Wave repeating device and these were in stock. But now that Samsung is sunsetting their Groovy platform and moving over to Edge drivers for all devices, I’ve been slowly migrating my devices manually. I excluded these, re-added them, and they were picked up by an Edge driver right away. So I guess I’ll go back to using and ignoring them for another year or two. Much as I love tinkering with my smart home stuff, sometimes it’s nice to have something you never need to mess with.

Greater than one weekHad one lamp with a 60W bulb attached and used just a few hours per week. Unit stopped working a little after two years. Expected more considering the price.

> 3 dayThis plug requires a compatible hub to control. The hubs are expensive and not plug and play. Buyer beware.

> 3 dayring setup tips-- I couldnt find anywhere else (quickly), so thought I would share here -- to add, select security (not smart plug -- since that is ring) then scroll down to works with ring -- then, to switch new devices to be on the extender, just trigger them once or twice and/or use the connect button and then the signal warning icon in the individual sensor summary screen (battery, alerts on / off page, etc.) should go away (ring support-- please add this to the summary line, after the word closed-- low signal so its easier to find which devices need troubleshooting)
