Epson Home Cinema 3200 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR

I replaced my 7 year old Epson 8350 with this 3800. The picture is simply amazing - bright and clear. I did not think I would need the HLG capability for upscaling with YouTube TV, but glad it has it because the picture with the HDR is not really nice to view from YouTube TV on the FireTV Cube - too bright and not as much fine detail as when placing it in HLG mode. Glad i thought ahead: You must have a HDMI cable rated for 4K to hook to the FireTV Cube or it will not work with your AVR 2.2 HDMI input - it flickers and you can an error message saying it will not broadcast the 4K video. Buy two cables while you at it because you will need one from your AVR to the projector and one from your Cube to AVR - if you try to use non-4K cables it aint gonna work with the Cube.

Good Quality projector

Purchased this projector To replace an older JVC model. Projector throw and keystone Our video room has a 106” diagonal screen and the dimensions required a projector with a 16ft throw. This projector advertised a 2.14 throw ratio and performed as expected for our application (16ft distance to screen) Very good screen brightness is achieved (outperforming the replaced JVC) using standard brightness setting The keystone adjustment is easy to use and allows picture to screen alignment with no visible distortion.( ideally projector needs to be positioned to minimize keystone adjustment Manual focus and zoom setting is easy to set and appears to stay on adjustment. However, remote set-up for focus, zoom and keystone Would be and outstanding addition to this projector. Noise level is noticeable acceptable in our application Overall picture quality is excellent at 1080p, not yet tested at 4K. Great value for the price.

Projectors have to serve a lot of different needs. Some people need them to be used in a brightly sunlit room during the day. Others need them for 3d movies. Others need the projector for text and images. All of us probably want a great picture and large screen wow experience. I have a dedicated theater room that is painted with dark brown walls and ceiling and blackout curtains. It is like a movie theater. I do not have to worry about brightness of the projector. That gives me some tradeoffs with this projector. This projector is EXCELLENT for a bright room that needs extra lamp power to overcome the brightness. For me, that means I can run in ECO mode and the fan is reduced and the brightness is still very good - and my blacks are better too. This is a pretty good projector for a theater room setup. It is also pretty good for a sunlit room setup as well, but you will experience tradeoffs. By running in full brightness mode at an insane 2900 lumens, the projector can actually be functional in a bright room. The fan will run a good deal more, and it will be noisier to overcome this - but it is better than having a weak picture. The colors are bright and saturated and the image is CRISP and CLEAR. For those who care about the details, it is not a true 4k picture, but for practical purposes and to many people, it is so well done that it gives the performance of a 4k picture at a fraction of the cost. Right now, a true 4k projector is VERY EXPENSIVE. The Epson Home Cinema 3800 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR gives you the look and feel of a true 4k image without the obscene price of a true 4k projector. It is large too - in most installed setups, this should not matter. If you are carrying it around as a portable unit, this could matter. Overall, this is a great budget choice projector that can handle very bright room installations (think of a living room with windows that dont get completely dark or a classroom or court room or business conference room.) If you are a true aficionado of high end projectors, this may fall a slight bit under the top end projectors, but it also falls a good bit under the prices of those projectors. I have a lot of friends who have MUCH CHEAPER projectors than this, so it is a fairly upper-mid-range projector and you will absolutely appreciate the many extras and higher performance of this projector. It does 3D and it will absolutely handle a bright room - feature that a great many people need and wish for. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a GREAT PROJECTOR at a price point of around $1,500. I would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends and Epson is a great brand name and projectors are one of their EXCEPTIONAL product lines. One comment on that... Most companies are known for being really great at CERTAIN PRODUCTS. Epson is known for printer and another one of their excellent products is PROJECTORS. Right now, with the exit of Panasonic from the projector market, Epson is very possibly right there with Sony and maybe one other brand among the top-3 projector companies out there. You cannot go wrong with this projector in my opinion as long as you know the quirks and they dont affect your situation. This projector came packaged in a very odd way. The projector was listed as new but clearly it had either been used or unpacked from its original packaging and repackaged in other boxes/materials. I feel like we overpaid for it considering the condition it was delivered in but overall the projector seems to work fine. A few minor glitches but the picture quality is great so were keeping it.

The unit weighs just over 15 pounds which isnt too bad and makes it portably convenient to switch back and forth between indoor and outdoor use. After approx 100 hours of use Im continually impressed with the performance and image quality of the unit. Highlights include color accuracy which is good to go right out of the box (hardly found any reason to tweak further with sources ranging from 4K blurays, 4k streaming services, PS4 & Xbox gaming) and the generously wide range of its vertical and horizontal lens shifting that provides ample placement options even in some tricky setup environments. Brightness is top notch as well with good display quality even in normal ambient lit rooms. HDR performance is amazing and at times makes us squint at its sheer brightness. The built in stereo (2x 10 watt speakers) sound really good to the point where we sometimes forego setup to external sounds sources and also appreciate the full sized, backlit remote control. We normally project this at 100 from a throw around 10. If youre still rocking a 1080p and below projector this one is definitely worth an upgrade.

Better picture than 4k DLP! We had another branded DLP and after ~1000 hours we had a star field of dead mirrors. I remember that LCDs did not do that..... Looking forward to finding out over time.

My 2 yr old LG smart LED projector died from what I suspect was a lighting surge - so after being unable to find a repair shop that could even look at it, I decided to buy this Epson projector. I’ve had excellent experience with other Epson printers in past and they seem to be one of the leaders in the market. We are extremely pleased with it so far. Pros: - image quality and brightness - warranty period - solid build quality (made in Philippines) - kind of subjective but still important to me. - easy setup and adjustability. - low noise on eco mode. On brighter mode it’s more noticeable on quiet movies but still not distracting. Cons: - a bit pricey... - bulkier than our old projector - had to replace the bracket for a stronger one. - having trouble to power off projector from fire stick 4K remote - power on is no problem. May be a fire stick issue. - the manual is on line so keep a device handy during install because navigating menus and setup required manual. - life expectancy of bulb About our setup: - ceiling mount (upside down - very simple menu pick to flip image) using the Epson bracket sold separately for 100 or so dollars. Very solid bracket by the way installed easily. - I installed a surge protector outlet in the ceiling (Leviton) to prevent same fate as first projector. This avoids the ugly look of a surge protector - install took about 1.5 hour or so. Included putting up new bracket and surge outlet - and adjusting picture. - 110 inch screen. Mounted projector about 12-13 ft from screen. - using with fire stick 4K but Slight issue with power off from the fire stick remote. - set to eco mode Overall very pleased with purchase and experience. Recommended.

I bought the epson 3800 renewed from Amazon and I could not focus the projector whatsoever. Focus uniformity across the four quadrants was horrible. I doubt I’ll pursue another electronics purchase from Amazon. A huge waste of time.

The screen from the beginning would not focus on all 4 corners. I have this ceiling mounted, and I suspect the lens is not designed to be mounted from the ceiling. If the text at the top of the screen was in focus, the text at the bottom would be slightly out of focus. This happened with 2 projectors (sent the first one back for a replacement). The replacement lasted 10 months. I will report back after I go through the warranty process with Epson. If that goes well, I might adjust my review positively. Customer service is important.
