Greater than one weekAnyone who is interested in the HC3800 should purchase one. I bought this projector at the start of Covid. It was an upgrade to a Mitsubishi 3800 1080p. Ironically the model number was the same. The 3800 was chosen at the time because the 5050UB was out of range price wise. The 3800 also got good reviews which helped in the decision. It was used for 2 years in my dedicated light controlled theater. Great picture. I upgraded to a 6050UB that a friend sold me for half price. The HC 3800 was moved to the living room where there is limited light control. The picture is phenomenal as far as a projected image in daylight can be. We are using a 100” Akia Cinewhite 1.1 gain screen. The Epson cuts through the ambient light producing a vibrant and colorful image. We run in ECO mode because the projector is used 14 hours / day. Even so my wife complains the image is too bright sometimes.

07-06-2025Just got this projector replacing my Panasonic 720p projector which worked nicely for 15 years but now with 4K content available I thought I would get this to start with watching the Super Bowl. First impression is it’s amazing upgrading from the 720p. Colors are rich and crisp. Lots of keystone adjustments available to fix the alignment since my previous projector was not aligned center of the room and I used the same ceiling frame to hang this projector. Couldn’t step away watching a movie or HD/4K content. I am still using a very old HDMI cable and yet getting very good picture - not sure if I have to upgrade it. Overall, after two days of using it, just impressed how good the experience is. Will know more after tomorrow’s super bowl game. Definitely recommend over buying a large OLED TV.

07-06-2025I got this Epson Home Cinema Projector to place in another room that Im working on turning into a mini home theater in my house. I own another Epson projector and Ive been very pleased with their quality, so I expected just the same out of this one. The most amazing part about this projector is the absolutely excellent video quality. It transmits using 4K PRO-UHD technology, which I really dont understand a lot about. But it basically helps to improve the resolution, color, and image processing. Its got a 3-chip that puts out just beautiful and vibrant color while using pixel-shifting. The brightness is also exceptional and seems to be just perfect for any viewing experience. Its got a multitude of connections including: 2 HDMI ports, USB, and a 3.5 mm audio out. I wish it came with an optical audio output, but I guess thats starting to be replaced by HDMI anyway. The projection can output all the way up to a 150 display, but I dont think I even have space for that in the room Im using. Im currently using a 120 projection with the projector set back about 12 feet, which is just perfect for what I need. I mounted mine to the ceiling using one of the mounting kits that you can buy, so thats something youll want to consider most likely. You can also set it up on a tabletop, but Id imagine thats probably not the best scenario for most people. You might also consider buying a projector screen for placing on the wall to get the absolute best display. So prospective buyers should consider factoring those additional costs into their budget on top of the price of the projector. Finally, Ive been able to connect all of my peripheral devices without any issues including: Amazon Fire Stick, laptop, PS4, blu-ray dvd player, and DirecTV receiver. Overall Im extremely satisfied and impressed with the quality and performance of this Epson Home Cinema Projector. The amazing video quality and incorporated technology make this an amazing projector that can be had at a reasonable price when you consider that a lot of 4K projectors run around $5,000 or more.

> 3 dayThis is my first projector, and so far Ive been pretty pleased with it. Set up for me has been tedious, but only because my home layout isnt conducive for projector use. Right now I have to have a temporary set up for use and then put everything away when done. Set up was fairly simple. Some minor adjustments were needed to fit the space I was using. The projector made short work of it and looked fantastic even on a makeshift screen. I am currently pairing this with an Xbox One X with its stellar 4k playback and excellent gaming library. Movies are amazing, from older films that have been rereleases on 4k to the latest releases like Avengers. Gaming was so so. Im used to gaming on a small monitor and found myself drawn away from what I should be doing in game because I was too busy looking at everything else. I will probably refrain from gaming further as I would like to try and extend bulb life as long as I can. Replacement bulbs are fairly inexpensive and seem to have a pretty decent life to them. Image quality seems to be pretty great too in low ambient light situations as well, however I have been going as far as I can to make it as dark as I can but thats just me. Overall I am pleased with the projector but wish I could give it a dedicated home.

> 3 dayPros: Bright and performs well in a room with ambient light, has a sharp picture and great HDR controls Cons: Contrast is not optimal, lens adjustment and focus is manual and makes it extremely tedious to adjust a ceiling mounted projector, fan noise is a bit loud.

> 3 dayGreat picture when dark. My room has a lot of light, which diminishes quality during day.

> 3 dayI recently upgraded my Optima and this was a great choice. A little bigger (heavier) than the previous projector. But the image quality and especially sound (very quiet) was well worth the price. I love the colors and blacks. I use it in my sunroom (with darkening shades), but it is even presentable in the daylight. But at night or a darken room is where it really shines. Good investment for movie night and general tv watch with an Apple tv.

> 3 dayThe unit weighs just over 15 pounds which isnt too bad and makes it portably convenient to switch back and forth between indoor and outdoor use. After approx 100 hours of use Im continually impressed with the performance and image quality of the unit. Highlights include color accuracy which is good to go right out of the box (hardly found any reason to tweak further with sources ranging from 4K blurays, 4k streaming services, PS4 & Xbox gaming) and the generously wide range of its vertical and horizontal lens shifting that provides ample placement options even in some tricky setup environments. Brightness is top notch as well with good display quality even in normal ambient lit rooms. HDR performance is amazing and at times makes us squint at its sheer brightness. The built in stereo (2x 10 watt speakers) sound really good to the point where we sometimes forego setup to external sounds sources and also appreciate the full sized, backlit remote control. We normally project this at 100 from a throw around 10. If youre still rocking a 1080p and below projector this one is definitely worth an upgrade.

> 3 dayThis projector is bright. I did not notice color issues or bluish tint when using dynamic. HDR looked good. The lens on this projector is a problem. When fully zoomed out, there is a clear difference in the focus. You are not able to focus the entire picture. If you have text on a screen at the top and bottom and middle, you have to pick two of them to be perfect and one to be slightly blurred. Or you can make them all a little off. This was reproduced at a zoomed in level, but not as noticeable. The fan on this is loud. Unless you are in ECO mode, medium and high power consumption is annoyingly loud. High is unbearable unless you have a party.
