> 3 dayOften it doesn’t geo-fence correctly causing alarms to go off on me and video recordings to go off on my housemates. Same problem on all my devices and housemates devices. Also two way audio is scratchier than other eufy cameras. It takes 7-8 seconds of holding the hold & speak button and speaking into the phone before audio starts coming out of the camera. Also doesn’t geofence correctly on any of my housemates devices. Also after iOS updates or app updates the geofencing doesn’t work again until you open the app and enter or leave the geofencing zone. I often get the alarm going off on me. Or I get halfway thru my day away before realizing it didn’t geofence and my entire surveillance system is sitting there useless. A lot of maintenance to keep thing working.

> 3 dayI have other Eufy cams and have problems. This is the first of this model I have purchased and I wanted to mount this camera at the top of a 6 foot fence and across a small area to a gate in the fence. About 25 feet. I could not get the camera to trigger unless I was within 10 feet. Calling customer service, they advised me that the camera needs to be mounted at least 7 feet above the ground and angled down between 30 and 45°. While this is indicated in the instructions that came with the camera, nowhere on the site could I find that information. This makes the camera completely unusable for me. Returned.

Self Analysis
> 3 dayEufy security cameras are super easy to setup (a few minutes each) and rapidly provided perimeter surveillance when dealing with some illegal activities in the neighborhood. Id had a hunch that more was happening in the middle of the night than I was fully aware of. After installed a set of cameras I discovered within a week that my neighbor was using drugs, prowling cars and menacing things at night, to an extent that it required police attention. The presence of the cameras now serve as a deterrent the neighbor who has been put on notice by the police, while providing a trust but verify level of security. The Eufy security scandal came to light right after my purchase. So I was tempted to return them and choose a different brand. Eufy were caught red-handed with personal data on their servers that was visible by third parties when they claimed no personal data was uploaded. Supposedly this bug (or feature?) has been updated. I am always wary of Chinese software companies and am aware that they may be slurping up more data than they should. But the immediate illegal activity in the neighborhood that was discovered at the time outweighed the chance Eufy might be installing spyware code in their app and reporting to Beijing. So I clicked OK on the EULA, with some reservations. I have found the security system to be stellar, notifying me of questionable activities even when Im hundreds of miles away. I like being able to check on things remotely. I have 4 cameras installed (including the doorbell) and the system gives me total surveillance of the premises and the car. I can even see how much snow has fallen to know whether Ill need to shovel or not. Of note, the base station is updated remotely and automatically by the Mothership. Being pretty tech savvy, Im aware that while your personal video data is stored on the local unit, it seems the base station software can be accessed by the Mothership via wifi. If software can be updated remotely at will by Mother, then it seems logical to conclude that anything on the base station would also be accessible by the Mothership since it would have to have root access to this appliance to make the updates. While Eufy claims your data is private, there is no way to verify this with 100% with regard to Eufy. So beware. I would recommend with one caveat, assume the actual privacy of your surveillance videos may be limited and Eufys claims cannot be readily verified.

Greater than one weekBeware - we had to recharge these around 30 days (we bought 3 total). We then purchased solar panels made to help these wireless cameras, hoping it would help. It did not. The cameras are still losing charge, and weve disarmed them so that were not even receiving alerts. We might as well not have any security cameras if we cant ever have them alert us or record activity. We were told by Eufy that the cold temperatures cause the battery to drain. If thats the case, then it should be clearly stated that these will not work in areas that experience cold winters.
