> 3 daySmall is the perfect size for a small gecko. The exterior looks good, very rock like though a bit shiny. I like that it has a top and base, so it is easy to clean. The drilled holes for holding it in the packaging are a bit annoying, but could be filled. And it has very good weight - heavier than expected. Two thumbs up so far. :)

Greater than one weekThe small is VERY small, please be aware of sizing when you buy it! I bought the small for an adolescent leopard gecko and it was way too small! I kept it and it now sits in my garden as a snail lounge but thats besides the point, it is Teeny Tiny. Look at the dimensions before you buy lol

> 3 dayI got a small because based on other reviews it seemed like a decent size. So I ordered a small for my still very shy snake who didn’t have a closed off hide like this. She’s a baby cornsnake and just barley fits in it but seems to LOVE it. I’ll have to upgrade her to a large or find on specifically for snakes soon though with sucks because like I said. I thought it would be bigger and she will outgrow it in no time

> 3 dayIm actually using this for a juvenile rosy boa rather than a gecko, but it works great for him. Most of the time I dont use the bottom of the hide, but its nice to have it available to use if I want to make him a moist hide during shedding without getting his bedding damp.

> 3 dayFirst off, my gecko is a full grown, 14 year old male. Hes recently been having trouble lifting his back legs, and its most likely the beginning stages of metabolic bone disease (common in some reptiles, but can be prevented with proper care). I used to have a Zilla Medium Rock Layer for him, but that was way too small and cramped for a full grown gecko. And I honestly believe that the Zilla moist hide I was using before is part of what caused my geckos back problems too. This Exo Terra Cave is perfect for a COOL, MOIST hide! And its spacious inside for my gecko to turn around without hurting himself! If you use it as a moist hide, just be sure to spritz it often as the moisture will evaporate eventually. Its essential to have 2 caves for leopard geckos, one moist and cool, and one dry and warm. This one traps in moisture so its good. Dont recommend using it for a warm hide though because if you use a heat mat under the tank, it wont heat all the way through the tank, the substrate, and then the bottom of this cave too so it wouldnt get warm enough. I love this brand (Exo Terra) because their items are smooth (no sharp edges to file down, nothing to hurt your pets), easy to clean, and the shape of them is very well thought out so that these caves will be perfect for any reptile, amphibian, etc. The lid as shown is detachable for easy cleaning, and easy to spray to keep moist. The Pop Socket in the picture is for size reference. The entry hole is big enough for a leopard gecko and similar sized species. I wouldnt recommend for a ball python or snakes of that size because the entry is an O and the snake may get stuck if it is too big to fit through the hole. Could probably DIY and take off the bottom part of the entry though if youre careful. Sphagnum Moss is better for this cave, but Im all out so using moist paper towels for now. Its awesome, highly recommend it!

> 3 dayMy juvenile leopard gecko LOVES this hide! He uses this hide the most out of his 3. I frequently use this as a moist hide to help him shed. It works great because it has the bottom piece which keeps the substrate from getting wet and also makes it perfect for knowing exactly where to place the moist paper towels or sphagnum moss. Its lightweight and super easy to lift the top off and mist inside or find him hiding in there. The outside surface looks very close to natural rock and the top is semi-flat giving him a place to climb up and look around. When he gets bigger I will definitely buy the large size.

06-06-2025I bought this for one of my male leopard gecko and he loves it! Hes only 6 months old so hes not fully grown so its a little big for him now but itll be perfect when hes full grown. Very sturdy, I use as a wet hide for him keep humidity for longer the other hides in the past!

> 3 dayI bought this to act as a moist hide when she goes into shed. Thats because the top comes off and there is a solid base that you can lay some moss on and mist it. The air in the winter gets awful dry. And with this hide, she had a complete shed. Trouble is I cant get her out of it now :). The medium size allows her to feel very secure and she fills it up. My girl is 32 inches in length. But she gets in there and coils up snug.

Greater than one weekMy 4 month old ball python loves this thing. He spends almost all his time in it. Now I think I need one for my leopard gecko too! I recommend putting a layer of whatever substrate you’re using in the bottom so it’s more comfy for them.
