07-06-2025They are just as fast as Samsung 870s, a 1/3 the price, and if youre worried someone will judge you for buying a knock off then you need better friends.

> 3 dayPrice is good, but I would not recommend this for an iMac SSD swap. The macOS software doesn’t like it. It’s definitely faster, but it sometimes freezes up, and beach balls at random times. Even booting up the mac sometimes does strange things like the circle with line through it where the apple logo would be, and telling me to contact apple.support, but then boots normal afterwards. My clone was done through recovery mode/disk utility/restore.

> 3 dayBought this 1 TB SSD to replace slower spinner 500 GB on board. Also ordered one stick of 4GB SODimm to round out max to 8 GB Ram by adding this 2nd stick to pair with the existing 4 GB. Already performed disc clone from old to new. Havent added SSD to PC yet. Ill crack it open when RAM arrives next few days.

> 3 dayI cannot attest to heavy performance from PC gaming, but I did install this on my original Xbox and.. yeah, im really impressed. Couple this with Cerbios and UDMA-5.. really nice experience for the price.

> 3 dayPros: (1) I verified that the capacity really is 512GB by writing 512107741184 bytes (as monotonically increasing 64-bit chunks) to it while calculating a sha256 hash of the data, then reading it back from the drive. Same hash. If the drive was actually smaller but faking a 512GB capacity, the hash could not match. (2) The drive is much faster than the old 7200rpm SATA drive it replaced. (3) I was able to install Fedora 35 on it in a Dell E6410 laptop. (4) The laptop feels much faster and more responsive, well worth the $22. Cons: (1) The SATA connector does not make reliable contact in the laptop because the drive is thinner than the older 2.5 inch drive it replaced. The drive caddy has trouble holding it at the correct angle for reliable contact. A thin shim is required to build up the drive thickness to the original spec. (2) The warranty void if removed labels on the long edge of the drive make the drive too wide to slide into the Dell drive bay. The labels become scraped off along the edge where they fold over. The 2.5 inch drive dimensions spec does not permit labels on this edge. Hey Fanxiang? Put those labels elsewhere.

Greater than one weekTwo issues. 1) Its oddly a slightly larger size than my last SSD by 1.5mm height and 1mm width, a Samsung 860 EVO. It would not fit in the SSD cage for my BeQuiet 802 case. I had to cable tie it in place. 2) The connections were upside down compared to my last SSD also. That part actually works in my favor, making the power connection and SATA cable easier. Yet, without the cage, I could turn the drive upside down if I wanted anyway. No problems so far in its performance, but only had it for a month at time of this review. I use it to hold all my games, and the load time is so much faster than my normal SATA harddrive.
