> 3 dayThis is nice tape. The adhesive is pretty heavy duty and should hold well. It will definitely leave residue behind just by the nature of heavy duty adhesive. For everything I have used it for so far it works perfect.

> 3 dayAs you unroll the tape, the back side is covered with a clear plastic film. You peel off the film to uncover the sticky side of the tape. This tape adhered well to 2x4 exterior lumber. I applied it to the top 1.5 edge of the board (top of the deck joists) and the 2 wide tape gives you a 1/4 of extra width on both sides to fold down. That was nice. Once applied, it stayed adhered to the wood well. The tape also seemed to self-seal well around driven fasteners just fine. Cannot say how long it will hold up but it certainly seems like a good product that will do the job as advertised.

Greater than one weekI like this product! It comes in good packaging and well protected. The construction of this product feels strong and well made. I feel like it is something that you can use often and not have to worry about it breaking down or failing any time soon! I was able to find many different use cases in my home for this item. I would recommend this product!

20-11-2024This was an excellent time to get this to try on my deck job - Im just starting to erect my 12 x 68 deck. I wasnt planning to use this but after thinking more about it and seeing what happened to my old deck, its definitely going to help protect my joists. This is especially more important because I have composite boards going on top of pressure treated - the plastic decking will attract moisture especially on cool mornings and that will normally get in contact with the wood joists below. Over time, this may promote rotting. Just a small investment in Butyl tape will protect the joists and give me many more years of life before possible replacement. The tape is thick and durable. The wider 3 inch roll is perfect for the double joist width or if you need to do a wraparound. Its got a tacky side but not very sticky - but enough to hold onto the joist board before the decking boards lay on top of the tape and really hold it in place. Obviously I should not see any lasting issues right now but the tape looks and feels durable and I expect it to lasts for years and years if not for decades. For around $0.33 a foot - its pretty reasonable for long term protection from the elements

> 3 dayI recently had to replace part of the door jam on my shed. Before I put the aluminum siding back up, I put a piece of this tape over the wood, to create a vapor (moisture) barrier. I intend to take all the siding off my shed, and put down more of this tape, to cover all the exterior facing wood, to help make it last longer. This stuff is very sticky, but not so sticky that it will be hard to move, if you dont press down on it. Other reviewers say its not so sticky when its cold, so it may become super sticky in the height of summer, but I did my tests at about 72 degrees, for reference. I ordered 3 inch tape, but the label says 2 inch, but that is not an issue, as it really is 3 inches. I dont mean, its 2.9 inches, and they rounded up, this is exactly 3 imperial inches wide. Im glad to see it is as advertised. I cant comment on the length, as I didnt measure it, but I expect it is accurate, since they didnt play games with the width. When you peel the labels off, even the sides of the roll are very sticky, so if youre working outside, and you dont have a clean area to work in, I suggest you leave the labels on, as to not pick up excessive leaves and dirt. If you search, youll see there are different types of butyl tape, of various widths and thicknesses. This is not suitable for filling in big gaps between 2 surfaces, but its perfect for filling in thin gaps, between wood and whatever. This should be suitable for anything you want to create a vapor barrier against, but Im not sure how well the sticky side will stand up to time, if it doesnt have anything pressing on it. My gut feeling is, it will do a fine job, for tasks other than the advertised applications. I intend to use it for some other tasks, so if I find out my gut feeling was wrong, Ill update this in the future.

> 3 dayThis joist tape is great quality. The butyl is sufficiently thick and the adhesive is very sticky. I like to keep a roll on hand, because of its wide range of uses. Ive used it to temporarily fix a puncture in a wheelbarrow tire. Its great for roofing projects. Anywhere you want to stop water infiltration. It sticks to most smooth surfaces; just make sure its clean and dry. The 2 works great for 2 joists, because it completely covers the top and slightly onto the sides. It adheres to low moisture content wood. Treated lumber needs to be thoroughly dry for this to adhere well. It takes 2-3 days for full adhesion.

> 3 dayI like to have a bit of overlap so there is no chance of water seeping back under to the tops of the joists. And I have old dimensional lumber so it not just nominally 2. Good adhesion. Easy to apply once you get a square start.

Greater than one weekJust as advertised, its a good water proofing tape. It even stick to moderately dirty and old lumber.
