> 3 dayPicked this up for a future project. The tape is thick and has a protective film that gets pulled off the adhesive side after unrolling. You can cut to size, then peel the film off when ready to apply making it easier to align and stick the tape exactly where you want it.

> 3 dayThis is a simple solution to give my deck extra life. The tape is thick and sticks once its applied. The best test I can show is in the picture. I punctured the tape with a nail, and it sealed exactly as it should around the nail preventing leaks. And it helps with any deck squeaks too!! Be aware there is a thin cellophane like layer that needs to be peeled off before applying. It is there so the roll doesnt stick to itself. I hope this was helpful!

> 3 dayAs you unroll the tape, the back side is covered with a clear plastic film. You peel off the film to uncover the sticky side of the tape. This tape adhered well to 2x4 exterior lumber. I applied it to the top 1.5 edge of the board (top of the deck joists) and the 2 wide tape gives you a 1/4 of extra width on both sides to fold down. That was nice. Once applied, it stayed adhered to the wood well. The tape also seemed to self-seal well around driven fasteners just fine. Cannot say how long it will hold up but it certainly seems like a good product that will do the job as advertised.

21-11-2024Very well made tape and it sticks to just about any clean surface, I bought the 2 inch version and I was so happy with it so now I bought the 3 inch version.

> 3 dayI havent used this on a deck yet but can see its a very strong, heavy-duty tape for the toughest applications. I will seal some gaps with this (easier than caulking) and it will work to prevent cold air from blowing in. As a quick repair method it could also hold something together until you have the tools (like nails or screws) to do a permanent job.

> 3 dayEasy to use! You will need it when putting deck on house. I would get it again. You will need a lot.

> 3 dayThis is nice tape. The adhesive is pretty heavy duty and should hold well. It will definitely leave residue behind just by the nature of heavy duty adhesive. For everything I have used it for so far it works perfect.

Greater than one weekIf youre resurfacing your deck, pressure wash the crud off the joist-tops first, let it dry, then get to sticking it down. Backing does tear sometimes, and builds up a lot of static when you take it off... Get into a rhythm though, and youre all set. Tape is spot on at 2, which incidentally is what you should be putting on your 2x joists (the 1-5/8 tape leaves no margin for error). Alas, it was also pretty consistent at falling short of 50 length. First roll was 42, next was 47, another barely made 40. Would I buy it again? Absolutely (as long as theres a decent coupon with it)! Would I like to get 50 rolls when I pay for 50 rolls? Absolutely!

Greater than one weekThis joist tape is great quality. The butyl is sufficiently thick and the adhesive is very sticky. I like to keep a roll on hand, because of its wide range of uses. Ive used it to temporarily fix a puncture in a wheelbarrow tire. Its great for roofing projects. Anywhere you want to stop water infiltration. It sticks to most smooth surfaces; just make sure its clean and dry. The 2 works great for 2 joists, because it completely covers the top and slightly onto the sides. It adheres to low moisture content wood. Treated lumber needs to be thoroughly dry for this to adhere well. It takes 2-3 days for full adhesion.
