> 24 hourI spent way too much time researching a replacement for a 15 year old Stanton direct drive that honestly didnt sound terrible. I just developed a brief obsession and relentlessly poured through reviews and audiophile forums, bouncing from vintage Denon, Kenwood, Pioneer and Dual to new models from Audio Technica, U-Turn, Fluance, Rega and Pro-Ject. The vintage tables felt like the natural choice, but they either needed too much love or they had been restored and were priced a bit beyond what I wanted to spend. I decided to focus on new tables and lower my budget to $300. The Rega Planar 1 and Pro-Ject Debut were then eliminated. Both seemed like decent options, although they werent without flaw and if Im buying a Rega I want to go all in, glass platter and everything. Audio Technica couldnt match what U-Turn and Fluance offer for $300 in terms of platter, cartridge, motor and aesthetics. The final decision came down to the Fluance RT82 and U-Turn Orbit Plus. If youre looking for a new turntable around $300 these should be the only two that youre considering. With the Orbit you can have an acrylic platter and an Ortofon 0M5E cartridge. Theyre assembled in the US by a small company and I appreciate that. Fluance RT82 comes with a slightly better cartridge and an arguably worse aluminum platter. Where it surpasses the Orbit, in my opinion, is in the cue lever, auto stop, S-shaped tone arm, removable headshell (easier to change cartridges), 33/45 rpm knob and lower wow/flutter %. I have had it for around a week and have probably listened to about 40 hours of music. At first I wasnt thoroughly impressed and I read there might be a break-in period for the stylus. It sounds amazing now and I am completely happy with my purchase.

> 24 hourSolid, well made unit. Packaged expertly, with clear, well defined setup instructions. I was spinning records less than an hour after I opened the box. Finish on the piano black plinth is outstanding. Great cartridge/stylus. Auto stop works if you dont rush to turn off the player when the record finishes. I liked it so much I bought another for my son.

> 24 hourIve only had this record player for a couple days, but so far it sounds great and is easy to set up. That said, in addition to a pre-amp, you will need a better power supply than the one provided. Its tiny, and your records will play slow as a consequence. Youll need a 12v, and old fashion block of an AC adapter that takes up too much room on wall socket. Other than the power supply issue, I love it!

> 24 hourBeautiful turntable (Bamboo finish is amazing) that sounds as great as it looks. This turntable makes my Technics SL-D1 sound like something from Crosley. Full, warm sound that sparkles with high end. Listening to albums is so awesome. There is no equal for enjoying music. Plus listening to a complete album for which they were made is so nice in a world that barely plays a song before the artist isn’t even heard of again. Hendrix, Bowie, Beatles, Burning Spear, Hank Williams, Stravinsky.....what’s next?

> 24 hourI loved this turntable at first. It was easy for a novice to set-up and the sound was quite good. I, like many other reviewers, am annoyed that the arm doesnt automatically return after the album is finished. But, the belt is slipping after listening to no more than 5 brand new albums. My more than 200 vinyl collection was stolen and Im gragually (and expensively) replacing it. It was a major disappointment when I heard the stylus dragging over one of my new Pink Floyd replacements. I knew it was a stretched belt and I knew my settings were correct.

> 24 hourThis turntable is perfect for me. It is dead silent when plugged into the phono inputs on my 1978 Luxman Receiver. I like everything about it. I found it very simple to set up. I have had it for about 2 weeks. So far wonderful.

> 24 hourI don’t know to much about turn tables but I went for this one after reading up on it and it’s in the mid range price wise but most importantly the quality and the look are superb. I assembled the few pieces with ease. I had help balancing the arm though which really wasn’t hard just a bit intimidating to a beginner. I have played a few very old albums that have proven that this turntable has proven to be the best for the price for a beginner album enthusiast.

> 24 hourFirst, this is a beautiful turntable in both sound and looks. It took a bit to put it all together correctly, but the directions were easy to follow. My problem is that I believed I was getting an automatic turntable where the arm actually returned to the resting stand once the record was done playing. Instead, the turntable just stops at the end of the record and stays on the stopped record, I cant imagine this is good for the needle and the description of AutoStop is a bit misleading. It is better than having the record continuously spin at the end, but not as good as when the needle comes off the record and returns to its resting stand. Id return it, but to take it all apart, try and get everything back into the box would be a huge hassle so I guess Ill learn to live with it. Just beware is all Im saying if youre looking for that fully automatic return feature.
