Greater than one weekI chose this turntable to replace a failing Technics model from the 70s, and am quite happy with the purchase. My only complaint would be that the cueing arm is a bit jumpy, and thus requires a slow hand to keep the needle position in place.

> 3 dayFirst of all Ill start by saying. I cant fault a thing about this turntable, but marketing I think missed the boat. Everything works perfectly, and no question in my mind about the claimed specs. This thing is rock solid, and keeps time like a pulsar. Dont be shocked when it exceeds the recording standards on some older and lower quality pressings. I researched turntables for months before I bought this. In this price point its the closest I found to a no compromise table. I only have one gripe about this. Its not just the Fluance line, its most all of them. That marketing thing. I ended up buying this table because I picked up a Grado cartridge for my other table. The direct drive I have been happy with for years. If you have not heard the rumor that Grados hum on direct drive tables. Im here to tell you they can. You would just start to notice it near the end of the last track. Thats not gong to work for me. Out side of that, I love this cartridge, but I was going to need a belt drive. Now the truth be told, the Mll Red, and Blue are two of the cartridges I passed on before I got the Grado. So I picked up the RT 82 because I had my own cartridge I wanted to use. I had no want, or plan to use any they offered with this or, the 83, and 84. Thats my gripe. Why doesnt Fluance (and some others) offer their tables with out cartridges? I know there are a bunch of us that have carts, and manufactures that we know, and use for our own reasons. I really do like this table a lot, but just kinda feel like Im having a cartridge forced on me I really didnt want. But in the end, the Fulance, and Grado are an epic combination! To be fair, I only used the OM 10 it came with for about 10 minutes. Just to make sure everything worked. It sounded like a new cartridge that needs to be broke in. So I have no input as to how this table sounds with the Ortofon.

> 3 dayJust bought this as my first turn table. I was going to go with the RT81 but the wood color was sold out and the other colors were the same price as this one. It was easy to setup, it’s easy to use, and it sounds great. Don’t forget that this DOESN’T have a built in phono preamp so make sure you buy one.

> 3 dayI picked this up looking for a quality platform that was good as is, and also would be good for future upgrades. The beauty of this table is in how much it can be further upgraded with almost no hassle. The body is very sturdy and weighty, and does not shift around at all. The platter is belt driven, so it gets little physical vibration from the motor. The cartridge is pre-aligned from the factory, so you dont have to worry about alignments as a beginner. It comes with a cue lever, so if youre the type to be nervous about dropping the arm too hard, you dont have to worry. Overall its a great purchase.

Greater than one weekIts a very solid performer. This is a good starting or intermediate turntable and beyond. The thing that is great about this model is that its perfect just the way it is and should last you a very long time. However, if you are the type that likes to upgrade like I am you can choose another cartridge and even an acrylic platter and upgrade it. You wont be disappointed with this turntable thats for sure. Ive been listening to vinyl since I was a kid in the early 70s and I have had a few turntables through the ages and this one I would buy again.

> 3 dayFirst, this is a beautiful turntable in both sound and looks. It took a bit to put it all together correctly, but the directions were easy to follow. My problem is that I believed I was getting an automatic turntable where the arm actually returned to the resting stand once the record was done playing. Instead, the turntable just stops at the end of the record and stays on the stopped record, I cant imagine this is good for the needle and the description of AutoStop is a bit misleading. It is better than having the record continuously spin at the end, but not as good as when the needle comes off the record and returns to its resting stand. Id return it, but to take it all apart, try and get everything back into the box would be a huge hassle so I guess Ill learn to live with it. Just beware is all Im saying if youre looking for that fully automatic return feature.

> 3 dayAfter fiddling with a Pro-Ject Essential III for a few months and being not too happy, I saw this Fluance RT82 as a New - Open Box special. It was exactly as described, really brand new. (Both had Ortofon OM 10 Cartridges installed.) I was shocked how it beat the Pro-Ject hands down. The Pro-Ject was very sensitive to outside vibration and noise, and no matter how I tweaked it there was a constant motor noise transmitted through the tone arm and cartridge. The motor operation was actually audible a few feet away with the volume turned down. The Fluance is dead quiet, well isolated from motor and other noises and vibrations, and not too prone to skipping from footsteps near it. Overall it seems to be an entire grade of quality above the Pro-Ject. Tracking, speed and stability are amazing for the price. Paired with a Yamaha A-S501BL Amplifier and JBL 4312G monitors it is a pleasure to listen to without constant fiddling.
