I change the sand every 6 months. My last hermet crabs lived for 10 years. As long as they have that calcium sand and new shells to grow. Photo posted are my new ones within this sand and stone habitat along with oak bark.

Do NOT purchases this product. It may seem all nice and friendly but this sand is made to kill hermit crabs. Calcium sand, when wet, turns into cement. When the crabs dig, they inevitably get water into their shell along with sand and it cements to their gills and suffocates them!

I love this sand for my crabs and honestly wouldn’t buy them anything else. I’ve had three for over a year now and they are thriving. This sand is wonderful. They like to bury themselves in it. It’s wet too! I would highly recommend to someone looking for some great hermit crab sand.
