Fluval FX4/FX5/FX6 Bio-Foam, Replacement Aquarium Filter Media, 2-Pack, A239

I made a canister filter out of 6 pvc, and i was looking for sponges i could use as a first stage. This product works perfectly for me. The diameter is a little bit larger than my filter, but its easy to cut down, and i use the excess as prefilter media.

Polish the tank great but clog up a lot quicker than I thought they would , but I still use em just have to remove them within a few days , week tops

These have been great keeping my tank clean and water crystal clear. Make sure you get enough to change your tank filter system at least once a month.

The only Fluval product I would not recommend would be the partially submersible heater.

Ive got dirt-bottom/sand cap heavily planted tank, so theres a fair amount of debris. These clog up quickly and severely decrease the throughput of the filter. Not recommended unless youre willing to change these often. They do work extremely well to promote clear water and will work fine in average gravel bottom tanks.

I had ordered these to preemptivly stock up and the price was good. When I recieved the blue filter pads I noticed these are knockoffs placed into the Fluval box. First I noticed these were flimsy and way thinner, whereas the authentic Fluval blue pads I already had on hand from a reputed fish store were thicker, sturdier, and tightly woven. The knockoffs are not cleanly cut as you can tell by the picture and are about half an inch small in diameter. They are also thinner than the authetic pads. Very devious and misleading as I paid for an item which I expect consistancy and legitamicy.

A week after putting this filter in my FX4, turtle tank, I noticed the tank water was very dirty. Then noticed the flow was very low. The only thing I had done differently was change the Bottom black basket pad to one of these pads. So I checked it out, and the new pad was now FLAT and HARD! Nothing could pass through that! I wish I had taken a picture for this reveiw. Im pretty shocked at what happend. Ive been using the FX4 for a couple years with no issues. This pad says its compatible with the FX4 right on the box. There is No reason this should happen. I have to believe these are fakes, with material that isnt even appropiate for a filter.
