> 3 dayOverall Garmin watches and the associated app are excellent. The Fenix 5 is as full a featured watch as you could hope for and it is very user friendly. The battery life is fine and charging is quick. However as with any GPS device and a wrist heart rate sensor, you will have accuracy issues. My buddy and I with the exact same Fenix 5 watches doing the exact same run were off by nearly about 2/10s of mile over an 8 mile trail run....definitely livable. However if heart rate is important to you do not rely on the wrist sensor. It is off wildly. Accuracy is consistently 30 BPM high and fluctuates like crazy. Youll need to buy a Garmin HRM strap and that will set you back an additional 80 bucks. Id just go ahead and buy it with the watch. HR is by far the most important training stat there is for anyone wanting to consistently train

> 3 dayIve been waiting and searching for a smartwatch that does just what this Garmin does. I dont want all the crazy functions from smart watch like texting, calling.. REALLY?? I see people texting on their iWatch and laugh. then they have to take the watch off at the pool? Since when did backwards innovation considered great? I can wear this watch in the pool, diving, snorkeling, shower, GYM while pumping out 250W on stationary bike. Not having to worry even a slight bit on if my watch will die from all the liquid. It gives me time constantly, Screen NEVER SHUTS OFF!! and the Im on my 4th charge since buying this. on average this thing will last 7 days with HR monitor on, GPS tracking on when cycling outside. Only 2nd thought is I wish I got the non-5X version since its it smaller and doesnt have MAP function, which is not really needed. Band is stiff yet flexible enough to keep a good tightness around my wrist without hurting. IF YOU ARE EVEN THINKING ABOUT GETTING IT, get it. its worth every penny.

> 3 dayI really want to like this watch but there are just too many problems with it: Accuracy. This watch doesnt accurately track your steps (at a good day, the accuracy is probably at 80%), the altimeter is always off, the stairs climbed is always inconsistently tracked (you can climb the same stairs everyday and you will get a different number everytime). Bluetooth failure: There are so many times that my watch gets disconnected to my phone even when I’m not doing anything. There are also times where my phone is synched to my watch (as indicated by the BT icon) but I won’t get any notifications on my watch. This happens all the time even though my watch and my phone are both always up to date. Sleep tracker: This function is useless. I’m not sure how it’s or where it’s getting its data but there were times that I stay up late and according to this watch I was sleeping during that time. There were also times when I took this watch off when I slept and somehow it tracked my sleep (obviously the data supposedly tracked was incorrect) This watch is not all bad. It also has good things about: This watch looks and feels well built. I wear this when I go snorkeling, play paintball and go mountain biking and it still runs. The battery life is great, it can last for 2 weeks as long as you’re not using any of the features (maps, etc.). There are many watch faces you can get from the app for free. This watch can easily be 5 stars if only Garmin can fix the accuracy and connectivity problems.

> 3 dayI had been eying this watch for several months before I finally bit the bullet and made the purchase... I am SO glad that I did. I have been using this watch for about 4 weeks now and I have no major complaints. I am a runner (Currently training for a half marathon) and this watch is incredible as far as tracking my runs and providing accurate feedback. It is super customizable and the Garmin Connect App/Connect IQ App are both great! This watch tracks a lot of stuff and so far it all seems to be accurate except for the sleep tracking. Although it may be due to me having a baby that sleeps in the room with me so maybe I just feel like I’m awake more than the watch says? Lol I didn’t buy this watch for the sleep tracking though so it doesn’t bother me at all that it may not be spot on feed back. The display is easy to read in all conditions. I love that I can control my music from the watch and also see phone notifications. It’s much easier to mange these things from my watch during a long run rather than trying to fumble around with my phone. I got the 42mm size and it’s prefect for my small wrist (I was worried about it being bulky) The white/rose gold is so feminine and can be dressed up/down. Overall this watch is definitely worth the price!

Greater than one weekDo you want a flashy mini-phone on your arm? One that can display pictures and crystal clear multimedia? Are you concerned with getting perfect emojis on your wrist? Then this is NOT your watch. This is a TRAINING watch that looks great even in a suit, and has some smart watch features. Be warned: This is a watch for physical training above all. The screen looks great outside, but is designed for maximum battery life (lasting a week for me). What this watch CAN do is track your run, hike, bike ride, or any other activity your can imagine. Fenix will track your heart rate, elevation gain, pace, route with GPS/GLONASS, VO2 Max and training load. This watch has helped me push myself and work harder, and gives GREAT feedback about your performance. This watch is light years ahead of Apple when it comes to exercise tracking and feedback. My old Apple watch looks like a cheesy toy in comparison. But ask yourself... are you tough enough to sport this timepiece?

> 3 dayI went from the Garmin Fenix 3 to the 5X and while I love the watch in general, mine has a flaw with the charger. Sometimes the watch will connect and disconnect continuously from the computer. Sometimes it wont connect at all. And if I get it to connect I have to be extremely careful and not touch it or it will lose the connection again. Garmin admitted there was an issue with this response: I am sorry we have currently noticed that there is an issue with the fenix 5x charging port. We are working on a fix but until we have a new batch all of the devices will have the same issues. I have added you to the case so we will contact you when we have a resolution. Until then, when you connect the device to the computer, you will not want to touch it so it will remain connected. It has been about 6 weeks now and they still have no updates on when this issue will be fixed. If you want a flawless watch, you may want to wait before buying. Once the charging issue is fixed Ill upgrade this to a 5 but until then it is a PITA to sync with my computer. ============================================ Update 11/10 Ive had my replacement watch for about a month now. Garmin support flip flopped again and said there was no known issue with the charging port and that my watch would be replaced. I paid for an advance RMA and I think they sent me a brand new watch. The new watch has not exhibited the same issues with the charging port and I have been quite happy. I am upgrading this to 4 stars and not 5 only because of the extreme hassle I had to go through and time it took for Garmin to take care of me, the customer.

> 3 dayIve had several tracker before upgrading to this beast. Before the Fenix 5x I had 2 fitbit heart rate wrist bands. They only last 1 year each, because of the constant use and wear&tear. This watch has been through 7 Spartan Races, banged against walls/rocks, taken through mud, water, ocean water, and than some. It tracks everything perfectly, especially running anywhere. If your a runner on any time of terrain I recommend this item the accuracy and data provided isnt matched by competitors. Multiple screens to choose from and different data to display is awesome. There are so many activity tracking apps to choose from it would take me forever to write about them. My favorite thing about this watch is the durability and the accuracy of the data. The only negative is lack of music, but I can live without music on my wrist and in my phone. Product update: It has been 2 years since I purchased this watch. The watch still has done amazing job of tracking my data. It has maybe few nicks on the side of it, but it’s been through a lot of races and work outside. The battery is still holding a charge. I use the fitness tracker a lot more now. I would recommend updating your personal fitness information to get more accurate information.
