Excellent piece of kit, as expected. Lasts for ages on the batteries. Small form factor and a price ledge to use. No clever maps and hence no added expense.

As a long-time user of the 401, I bought this 601 to replace the 401 which got stolen out of my luggage a few months ago. Foretrex is the only line of GPSs on the market that do the job for me when Im hiking or dog sledding in extreme winter conditions. The physical buttons mean I can operate it with mitts on, and its AAA batteries can be quickly replaced after the cold swiftly kills them. Ive operated the 401 in temperatures as cold as -38°C/-36°F -- way below the rated -20°C minimum -- without issue.

Bought this for NTC is California. Shipped quick to the house where I powered it on, connected it to my phone, and let it do its update. Once finished I put it in my bag where it lay waiting for its use at NTC. I got to California about a week ago and needed this to help landnav and it wouldnt turn on. Ive tried about 15 new sets of batteries in hope it would power back on, but it doesnt. Quite expensive for a single use item. Will be contacting the seller and returning once back at home station.

This thing is awesome. I have the 401 and this is a nice upgrade.

Battery contacts broke off and unit will not longer work property. Expensive GPS that needs some revisions.

As a combat veteran I use gear to its full potential. This is my second one. The first I lost after a long tunmble down a hill/cliff. I looked several times but could not find it, so I had to buy another. This is the perfect size. Has numerous features. It has never failed me. Battery usage if great. I normally use lithium in it. I used similar in combat. I would recommend this!
