> 24 hourAs a solo backcountry bear hunter often out of reach of cell service, I find peace of mind with this Satilite communicator. So far so good, I feel the Anual subscription is a bit high cost imo.

> 24 hourBack in my day, you went to the backcountry prepared to save your life without help. As in, we had wilderness first aid training, backup water purification, knew orienteering, guarded the topo maps like our firestarters, knew exactly how many calories wed packed so we could stand delays, learned to read clouds and fronts, etc. Also, daily checkins were a ridiculous concept. This was the 90s, an era of rugged disconnection.

> 24 hourTheres a bit of a learning curve with this device, i.e. syncing your Inreach Mini with your smart phone and your Garmin Web Account. Having said that, its a great little device and does what its advertised to do. The Bluetooth connection is great.

> 24 hourI purchased this item to take offshore with me in the place of an EPIRB. I figured I would find comfort in the user face allowing me to text back and forth with GEOSS. What the product lacks to mention is the heavy subscription you must carry to use the item. Most importantly, god forbid you miss a payment or in my situation I had fraud on my account, the item is shut off completely. On the spot. The SOS button is disabled too. Let that sink in. Garmin will let you die over a monthly subscription. Oh! After learning this I was forced to pay 185$ to cancel my subscription with the device or it would be permanently locked. Moral of the story, garmin is more worried about 15$ a month then your life. The second you realize this too and go to cancel you’re paying for that also. Never buy garmin again.

> 24 hourThis is a great little device for providing peace of mind while on the trail outside of cell phone coverage. The user interface is a little primitive but functional. It really shines when paired to a smartphone using the Earthmate app.

> 24 hourI recently used the Garmin Inreach Mini on a two week backpacking trip on the Pacific Crest Trail in the Northern Cascades of Washington State. The trail is frequently in trees and valleys, and I found that in more than half of the instances where I tried to send a message, the unit simply did not have the power to make a connection. At one campsite, a hiker with a different satellite phone easily made a connection, and my Mini could not. Short story, I would not take a Mini out again. You cant pick the spot where you will have an emergency!

> 24 hourThe app often fails to pull messages from the device. The battery life is about 1/3 of the advertised battery life even if I turn off all tracking features.

> 24 hourBest purchase I’ve made for backpacking. Good battery life, waterproof, rugged little thing that works great with your phone. Let’s your loved ones know where you’re at when sending texts through the app.

> 24 hourSince my wife wont reliably find her way back to the trailhead and phones rarely work where we hike, I bought the Inreach SE several years ago. I used it when I broke a leg hiking in the backcountry. It was a great help getting out (though the wife did find the trailhead on that occasion and got to the sheriff 15 minutes before the satellite folks made it from regional to national to state to county sheriffs department). Since the very-reliable SE feels like a brick, I sprang for the $$ for the Mini. It works just as well!
