> 3 dayThis seems like a really well built unit. However, I have been unable to use it. Since I was using this for a Windows computer, I went as directed to the website for instructions to re-format it. No such instructions exist on the Glyph website. I googled for instructions and found some supposedly from a Glyph tech (who, by the way, apologized at the beginning for the lack of instructions on their website). This is not the first time Ive had to re-format a hard drive for Windows, though its been a while. I never had trouble before, but his instructions were hard to follow and often led to a dead end. So far, I have a rather expensive paperweight, but I have hopes for the future. My suggestion, if you have a Mac, buy this. If you have a Windows PC, proceed with caution.

> 3 daySo far so good. Ive used this drive for around a month now for editing video for school projects. I bought a case for it, but not because it didnt feel like it could handle being thrown around in my bag. Formatting, operation, etc. have presented no problems thus far. slick looking little guy.

> 3 dayIve owned this Glyph only for three months but it has been plugged in and unplugged dozens of times, was carted across the globe, loaded and unloaded with data and has not skipped a beat. The USB 3.1, gen 2 is great. The case looks protective and seems to do the job.

> 3 dayI usually like Glyph drives, but this model seems to have a design flaw. The drive I bought loses its connection when the drive is moved. The USB C cable does not appear to be properly fastened to the board, so the connection is intermittent when even the USB cable gets touched. This is a huge fail and I would avoid this drive. Its a snake because my 2 TB version that I bought two years ago is still running perfectly and that one has been all over the planet.

> 3 dayI know there are a lot of compact drives available, but Ive settled on the Glyph BlackBox drives as being a great value, especially at their price point. Super reliable and well made, I really like the construction of the shell as well as the rubber jacket feature that adds shock protection. Have been using these pretty exclusively for a few months now and planning to order some more as my need for more memory and portable drives increases.

> 3 dayI am a huge Glyph fan and have two old rack HDDs from back in the day for my studio. I bought this 4TB unit simply for time machine backups and it has worked flawlessly. That being said many of the features like SMART monitoring are not really available as advertised. Also there tech support is awful. Take forever to reply and don’t even answer my questions. If this were being used as a primary work drive I might’ve returned it, but since it’s for backup I’m not gonna bother.
