> 24 hourThe phone worked great out of the box with my T-Mobile SIM. If you intend to use the phone as-is, then you probably wont run into this issue. I needed the phone for development work, so I had to flash the phone with a test build of Android. After flashing, the phone is no longer unlocked -- it shows a notification telling me that I need permission from Soft Bank to use my SIM. Ordinarily, this should not happen, since if the phone were really unlocked, it should have shown up as unlocked in the IMEI database. So, it seems that - The seller is sourcing locked phones instead of factory-unlocked phones, and then contacting the carrier to get them unlocked. - The phones from Soft Bank are not properly unlocked. They appear to be unlocked, but if you manage to lose whatever local setting that makes the phone appear to be unlocked, then youre out of luck.

> 24 hourThe absolute best thing about this phone is the fact that it has NO BLOATWARE! I have always had Samsung and Motorola phones before buying this Pixel. Samsung was good but I was tired of the bloatware that came with them. Motorola has much less bloatware but the cameras were not top notch. This Pixel being less expensive than other so called flagship phones has been serving me perfectly so far. I have had it for about one month now. I would highly recommend it!

> 24 hourI had a moto 7 plus before this and it, with the extra sd card, did everything this one does. THe Pixel 4a lacks the slot for extended memory, but capacity is greater. THe camera is pretty remarkable, but not sure worth the premium price tag.

> 24 hourHigh end devices like the Note 20 Ultra are getting easier and easier to pass up. This is a great device, I had a Note 20u for a few months because I wanted to check out the telephoto lens. Very cool and something Id love to see added back to the Pixel line but in the end it isnt worth paying triple the price. Speed wise the 4a 5g is only slightly slower than my Note 20 and in practical terms I rarely if ever notice any slowdowns. Same with battery life, Im seeing similar battery life and I had to turn my Notes refresh rate down to 60 to get decent battery life. No bloatware? Nice plus as well. My biggest beef with my note was the price and the fact that I had nagging issues with Samsungs crapware / system software. Lastpass had continual issues due to the Notes aggressive battery management. I white listed it but there was some sub process getting shut down which allowed overlay and it would cause Lastpass to stop filling. Then I had problems with getting the stupid thing to connect with my Chromebook for unlocking / messaging. The pixel just works. You would be hard pressed to beat what you are getting for the money here. Im a heavy user, dont hesitate to buy this and pass on the overpriced premium devices. They are a waste of money.

> 24 hourI got new hearing aids whose controlling app required a version of Android newer than Oreo on my favored but ancient LG V20. So I wanted a new phone that would support the app plus 5G plus a 3.5mm jack plus did not cost an arm and a leg. the 4a 5G fit the bill and I have been very happy with it. I had live translate on my old phone that let me hear what the tour leader was saying while on the bus and it is still there. But in addition there is live captioning that translates audiobooks, videos, calls etc in real time. I also prefer the fingerprint reader because I have doubts that face-recognition would would with covid masks. The battery is a little under-powered (I had a 10,000 mah monster for the V20 which had easily replaceable batteries) but it picks up quite a bit of charge in a few minutes. So I am very happy with this baby.

> 24 hourThe battery life and the big screen are probably my favorite things about this phone. Battery lasts 2-3 days for me on a full charge with mixed use compared to my galaxy s7 which would only-just last through the day. The camera is also solid. My only complaint is that there arent more case options. Really happy with my purchase. Would def recommend.

> 24 hourI needed a replacement for my Samsung Galaxy s4 I bought in 2014. The Samsung phone still worked but with Android 5 most apps would not run on it. Also I was getting so many spam calls here in Las Vegas that it was driving me crazy. First priority I wanted a phone that would screen calls for me. None of the call blocker apps worked well enough for me and I did not want to pay extra charges for some premium app. When I heard that Google had a built in call screener, I decided I had to get a Pixel phone. Next I wanted a phone that would stay current with software updates as long as possible because I intend to keep it forever. Google guarantees three years worth of updates which is the longest I could find. So I had to get Pixel phone. Finally I wanted a phone with a big enough screen that i could read it easily as I am over 70 and my eyes arent what they used to be. This is why I picked the Pixel 4a with 5G instead of the Pixel 4a. I didnt care about waterproofing or wireless charging, etc. because the phone was going into a case with a glass cover for protection. I got my phone from Amazon in early December after waiting for Prime day and Black Friday and being disappointed that there were no discounts. If I had waited a bit longer i could have gotten $50 off, but thats life. Ive had the phone now for around three months and it works well. I LOVE the call screener, It comes with Android 11 and should be good at least through Android 14. The size is just right and it is much faster than my old S4 and runs all the apps I will ever use. I dont make many calls so one charge lasts almost 4 days. It charges completely from almost zero to 100% in about an hour and a half - much faster than my S4. The only weak point is that occasionally the fingerprint reader takes several tries to work. I signed up with T-Mobile on their $15/mo plan and the connections I get around Vegas are superb. Often I get a 5G connection and I have yet to have a dropped call. I rarely use data outside my home so 2GB/mo is plenty for my use. I rarely use the camera. I have heard it is great. But Ill probably never know. Bottom line is I am very happy with this phone. I expect to keep it for many, many years.

> 24 hourOne day in and Im very happy with this phone. I inserted my Verizon 4G LTE SIM card and it worked without issue. My city does not have Verizons 5G UW band, and as for Verizons other 5G, the Nationwide band, coverage is hit or miss anyway based on their coverage map for my town. But who cares about 5G? I spend 97.5% of my time on WiFi. Even before the pandemic forcing work from home full time I still used WiFi in the office. Check the coverage maps and consider your use case, and realize its stupid for Verizon to charge an extra $100 for the same phone that they also load bloatware onto and place other unnecessary restrictions on. Update: There must be no such thing as a 5G SIM card because I was out the other day and my signal showed 5G anyway.

> 24 hourIve had this phone since April 2021. I previously had a Nexus 6P then a Pixel XL. I had high hopes and expectations for this phone. Alas, even after just spending $500 on this phone Im considering moving to an iPhone. Why? This phone and Android 11 is just eh. Randomly laggy, buggy, and definitely not as buttery smooth as my partners iPhone SE 2020. Ive loved my Google phones. Ive loved the stock Android experience. Im a Google One customer and my entire electronic life is wrapped up in the Google ecosystem. So I was hoping that buying the top of the line of both would have resulted in a stellar experience. But even after factory resetting it multiple times and being VERY picky about what apps Ive installed, the entire experience is just eh.

> 24 hourI love pixel phones. The cameras are always great. It also has built in spam blocking. The drawback is that this phone works with very few carriers. I had AT&T prepaid, but it doesnt work with any AT&T based carrier. I got this phone because it was supposed to work with AT&T and am disappointed, but the phone is so great that I think I might switch carriers for a few years.
