The magnetic base makes it a lot easier to corral the pins & reduces the chance of pins falling on the floor.

So much easier to use than a pin cushion! Its heavy enough to sit sturdily on my ironing board. Strong magnet holds the pins but will also grab your scissors if you get too close! I place the cushion close to the sewing machine so while sewing I can pull a pin from the seam, get it close to the cushion and BAM the magnet grabs the pin and I am on to the next one. A sweep of the cushion on the floor also makes quick work of picking up fallen pins. Note, though, the included pins are a good length and sharp but are flimsy and bend easily.

    Greater than one week

This is a SUCH a cute shade of green!;) I love this little pin holder, and the pins dont disconnect. It feels very sturdy and is perfect for sewing or any other project that uses lots of pins. Definitely recommend!:)

I love everything about the pins and magnetic pin cushion. The pins just go right in and stay! The green color is awesome too!

Its still magnetized, but day before yesterdy (and its less than a week old), it got knocked off the ironing board, and when I picked it up, it had a big chunk broken not-quite-out of the rim of the plastic housing. Now, I realize that the magnet still mags -- not a single pin dropped off when it fell -- or if they did, they fell into space as it hit the floor, and immediately bounced back up onto the upside-down surface of the blue plastice. I also realize that not all plastics are made equal and some may cost a bit more to house the magnet in than others, but could Blue Feather not have specified to the factory to use one that was not expected to break when it hit linoleum over concrete when dropped from the height of an ironing board? After all, many of us have playful cats. Playful kids. Some of us even have periodic playful earthquakes (we know who we are.) Things do fall off ironing boards. This is within the Prime period for sending it back, but Im not sure its ethical to ask to send it back, damaged, so Im keeping it. As I say -- the magnet still mags. But I implore you, Blue Feather -- have a talk with your manufacturer and see if you can come up with a more durable plastic. If I find out you have, Ill buy the improved model. And write a new review.

Love this pincushion. Okay, it is not a cushion, but a plastic plate/bowl sort of thing with a magnet inside. It grabs the pins really easily, and you dont have to worry about which end is up. Since the pins that come with it have balls on the ends it makes them easy to grab. The magnet tends to make the pins line up parallel to each other so that helps too. I bought this on a lark a decade or so ago, and really thought I wouldnt care all that much for it since I was used to a traditional pin cushion I could stab happily. I changed my mind. Mine got destroyed recently so I just bought replacement, and picked up another for my daughter. The pins that come with the Grabbit are long, balled and sharp. When I first bought one, I fell in love with the pins too, and couldnt find replacements. They do sell the pins separately now, too. Two more pluses to this contraption: you can turn it upside down and wave it close to the ground or your table to pick up dropped stray pins without needing to search. They get picked right up. I keep my small sewing awl on here as well, and it has become slightly magnetized. I put the tip against the ball end of the pins as I get to them while sewing on a machine. They slide right out sticking to the awl, ready to be dropped back onto the pin cushion. Word to the wise: dont drop the pincushion. The magnet inside mine broke in half when I did and it was never quite the same.

Pins and I have a love/hate relationship. I get so caught up in my sewing that I can lose track of where I put pins as I pull them out, they can end up on the floor, under my machine, or get hidden by fabric that I sweep away on my cutting mat, only to feel that sharp pain...well, you know what I mean. This is so great!! I dont have to be precise with a usual pincushion, etc., now. The truth is that you can almost toss them in the general direction of this Grabbit and theyre sucked onto it! They line up in a nice way, as well, so that you can go for a pin without worrying about sticking yourself, as happens in a pin box, etc. Id happily gift this to any sewer I know!!

Why I never thought to purchase one of these years ago is beyond me! The absolute best, and most safe, way to store needles. You can pick a needle up from inches away. Fear youve dropped one? Just wave this beauty around the desk, carpet, wood floor, and it will find what your eyes might not! I bought purple, myself. I think anyone who sees or does embroidery should have one of these. Goodbye tomato, hello magnetic sewing pincushion! Buy it! Trust me!

Ill buy these over and over again!! Have always used this brand Ive bought others in the past but the magnet isnt as strong as this one. ** Pic is in comparison to other brand and how many pins it can hold. This one is on the left and the other brand on the right! (I cant put anymore pins on the other brand cuz theyll fall off). Pros: - convenient - strong magnet - holds many pins - comes in cute colors -well made Cons: - DONT DROP IT!!! Ive dropped mine before on a hard surface. The magnet will break inside and it will no longer be useful!!!
