With the 30 inch pole you don’t have to bend down to open the gate. We open and close our gate often during the day so this makes my wife happy. I used these for a homemade double gate so I had to retrofit them slightly. 1) I mounted the slide brackets slightly lower than instructed in order to get the pole to stick deeper into the ground (making them a bit stronger). By design I knew that doing this would make the “V” post holder ineffective as it would be too low and the post would drag. I initially intended to add a wood block to the gate to supplement as a holder but my horizontal board design was able to accommodate this by allowing the post handles to simply hang on the rail when the gate is open. 2) I also had to cut grooves into the gate for the flush mounted post to slide since they weren’t made for flush mounting. Easy retrofit. Could have mounted a 2x block for this but the notch was quicker and easier. See photos for ideas. Super happy that I bought these 30” and for the same price as 12 or 18”. Can’t beat it.

Easily installed on adjust a gate. Works as they should. Its been several weeks and no issues. Would buy again.

Strong rod easy to mount. I use one for each side of a double gate and they work very well.

Installed on moderately sized gates (3.5x6 ft). First strong wind bent the rod all to heck.

Worked well for our application as house gate. We ended up drilling holes into the concrete for hole insertion. Overall, a good product for the do it your-selfer. You will need to mod.

I used this rod to close a gate linked fence after losing the ordinal rod it works well and fitted perfectly. I did not need any of the added assemblies because it slit right into the former rods hold perfectly. The rod is sturdy and hold very well. It worked and adjusted as well as the ordinal lost rod.

Locking rod length is only 22 in locked position. If the bottom rail is installed higher than that it will not lock the gate in place. Box description does not state length. Installation instructions are skimpy and do not include length limitation.
