04-06-2025This drive was shipped promptly by USPS Priority Mail in two days, beating the deadline by several days and outstripping Amazons delivery of products ordered at the same time by three days. It was simply packed in bubble wrap and a USPS small box but it was in good condition and works fine. It was in a standard sealed anti-static OEM wrapper and appears to be new, not refurbished. I installed it in a PC I use for video editing which is not connected to the Internet and runs XP SP2. The interface is original SATA 1.5 GBs. In spite of the ancient technology it installed easily and shows disc-to-disc transfer rates of about 60 MB/s. Slow, but no doubt limited by the transfer rate of the older drive. I am so impressed I am about to order another.

> 3 daySave your money and your data. Somehow Hitachi has forgotten quality control completely. Six of these have failed in the last year, four of them within the last three months. Just not worth the risk, go with a better quality unit from a more trustworthy company. Sure their all built in Asia but at least stick with the Asians who are putting in an honest effort and deserve your business.

> 3 dayI first got this drive to be a backup but I liked it so well that I bought another for a system drive in a medium quality gaming computer. The first one is 3 years old and is rock solid. No problems at all from either drive. Over the past 15 years Ive switched back and forth between WD and Seagate drives, but I am becoming a quick fan of these Hitachi drives even though they are a WD product in essence. It may be mind over matter, but I do like this brand. Will buy again from Amazon when I need another one.
