> 24 hourI am very pleased with these! I have two older models of the small air filters that Holmes has discontinued/revamped. It used to be such a pain to buy new air filters for it because it ended up running at close to $50 for two filters. For some reason, $50 seems like an astronomical cost for a couple of air filters, even if theyre only changed twice a year. It adds up and in previous years, I havent necessarily had the income for that but I have had the need for the purifiers due to allergies. These filters fit inside my older models, are packaged in much smaller and easier to deal with packages, and run at about $15 per filter which is awesome. I am so glad they updated the filter to bring down the cost and so glad that they made it so that it works with older models. It helps keep my allergies under control and is definitely within my budget now!

> 24 hourWas looking for replacement filters for my older Holmes Fan/Air Purifier. Originally it came with Type A filters, but Holmes has since upgraded to their AER1 line. I had trouble deciding on a type, as I was confused why, of all the options, it seemed like some of the filters did the same things but for different prices. One BIG DIFFERENCE I discovered after ordering these filters, is that the recommended replacement time is different for these filters: 4-month replacement: Odor Eliminator, Smoke Grabber, Total 12-month replacement: Allergy (Allergen Remover), Allergy Performance Plus There are other distinct differences which I found very hard to locate: -- all the 4-month replacement filters seem to have 99% filter strength, -- the 4-month replacement filters are HEPA-type filters (not authentic certified, just very similar) -- the 12-month filters (allergen remover & performance plus) filter 99.97% and 99.99% of allergens, respectively, -- the 12-month filters are True HEPA filters, -- the Odor & Smoke filters seem to have carbon and Zeolite infusion, Most all of the filters are going to filter the same things, the difference is just how good you want the filter to be, and what you want to filter: -- debris and allergens -- pollen, dust, debris, dust mite debris, mold, pet dander, smoke, VOCs (like cleaning product chemicals in the air). -- odors -- tobacco smoke odors, pet odors, dirty laundry odors, and cooking fumes. If I were to rank the strength of the filtering ability, I would rank them the following way (with 5 being the strongest filter): (1) Total Air, (2) Odor Eliminator, (3) Smoke Grabber, (4) Allergen Remover, (5) Allergy Performance Plus ---> But it is worth noting that the Smoke Grabber and Allergen Remover filters do not include Arm & Hammer infusion, and the Allergen Remover filter also does not claim to reduce odors from pets, tobacco smoke, cooking fumes and other unpleasant household odors. For me, the Odor Eliminator was the cheapest filter (currently $8.99 for a pack of 2), and I didnt have any huge specific needs to filter one thing more strongly than another (like allergies, odors, or fumes), so I just got the basic filters to keep my air clean. However, knowing that the Performance Plus needs to be replaced only every 12 months, it would have made sense to get that for $18.99 for a pack of 2...

> 24 hourThe green filter for allergies lasts 12 months where the other ones need to be replaced at 3 months. So you definitely get more for your money. It works great! My son has severe allergies so I have this going in his room 24/7. You can see that it is pulling in dust and even pet hair! I will continue to use this product.

> 24 hourBe warned it is not a miracle cure. If you have severe allergies you will probably need a more heavy duty purifier with better filters. I still have to dust just as often and I dont have allergies so I havent noticed a change there. It does help a bit with pet odor though. Im just not sure how much of the odor protection is from this filter and how much is from the carbon prefilter. I will say this though, unless you have really bad allergies you can probably let the filter go a while. I let the cheap blue one that came with it go about twice as long as what the directions said and didnt notice any problems. One thing to try first though, if you are considering these just for allergies and you have mild ones, you might want to check and make sure that your hvac filter is around a merv 8 to 10. It might be cheaper to just get better hvac filters than to get these and the air purifiers. Try that especially if you have the cheap blue ones that are ofter merv 1 or 0. Also you can buy hvac filters and tape them to those square box fans and it will work as an air purifier too. I would suggest that more for allergies though. I got this because we have pets and I dont know if its the arm and hammer in it or what but it seems to take the edge off the smell.
