> 24 hourThis was a was a Christmas present for a friend. It works well with some DVDs, but not one thats particularly important to her ... a memorial video from her mothers funeral. The disc has *.IFO and *.BUP files. When one puts into a built-in DVD drive on an older laptop, it just starts running. When placed in this drive, nothing happens. My research leads me to believe that the Windows 10 on the new laptop that has no DVD of its own is either missing the file association for the program that runs the drive or is missing the routines used to *.IFO and *.BUP files altogether ... a software rather than hardware problem. Im sure well figure out whats wrong, but its a nuisance.

> 24 hourPlug & play only plugs and plays VERY basic functions. Forget burning a music cd or something like that. You have to find and download a driver to get full function with this device. No one tells you this. Instructions in microscopic folded page impossible to read unless you’re Antman. Look, I’m not a computer nerd. Plug and play seemed like a simple thing to do, plug it in and play. NOT. Luckily I have a computer nerd available to help me out. Remember when you’d buy a computer device that came with a cd to stall and there you go! Easier that this plug and play.

> 24 hourIt does what it is supposed to do. Apple removed their optical drives and this replaces their omission of a CD/DVD player.

> 24 hour10-11-19 Got mine used, not original packaging. Instructions were scanty, though its really plug in & use. Low cost and essentially for light use. Good for creating reboot & system image disk, or installing extension drivers such as for printer, ect. Exactly what I got it for. Wouldnt use mine for playing media DVDs or CDs, not sure how long it would hold up to repeated extended usage. Also has to be used on a level surface otherwise the drive makes noise, figure causes it to be unbalanced. And get a longer USB cord, packaged one is only about 8 inches long
