> 3 daySome reef tank owners may disagree with my conclusion but after many years of owning reef tanks and FOWLRs - and having tried most of the products available - I sincerely believe this salt is the best overall value for the average salt water aquarium enthusiast. For FOWLR tanks there isnt a better salt available. For reef tanks there are better products available (Red Sea Coral Pro most notably) but the cost of those products is not reflected in the quality. Whatever salt you buy you still need to supplement - calcium, buffers, trace elements, etc., etc. - and yes you need to supplement a little more with this salt but when you total up the overall costs this salt proves to be the best value by far. I have never had an issue with this salt - mixes quick (15 minutes using a powerhead) and clear.

> 3 dayI’m not sure why but my salt is as hard as a rock now. I keep the bag closed when I’m not using it, but it’s like cement now. Other than that, it dissolves well and my fish aren’t dead so

> 3 dayI opened my box, and their is an inch hole in the bag and the salt has drawn in moisture. I’m sure I can still use the salt because it dissolves in the water anyways. But when I opened the box, salt spilt on my carpet. I have ordered several bags of salt before and haven’t had any problems. Not sure if the bag got ripped open from handling or it was sent like this to me. Also noticed the heater I ordered was opened. I do have the heater plugged in and it is operating properly.

Greater than one weekAlways use this product and had no issues with this. The last purchased item showed some crystallization of salt powder and the particle was mm size. Keep on using this condition, I see no negative effect but need a little more mixing time

> 3 dayIve always loved instant ocean for all of my saltwater aquariums. However this bag thats labeled for 50 gallons was not enough to bring a 47 gallon into spec. I had to buy an additional smaller bag to get the specific gravity to where it needed to be. Otherwise its fantastic. Just buy a little extra.

> 3 dayI used to own a tropical fish shop, a commercial FW fish breeder and now just a retired hobbyist. I only use Instant Ocean salts to hatch and/or grow Brine shrimp now. I have always obtained superior hatches using marine salt mixes over rock salt. In the past, Ive cultured some corals but a true measure of a marine salt mix is to have reef fish breed in captivity. I have had pairs of Yellowtail Blue Damsels, Chrysiptera parasema) breed almost every week for months at a time in the early 1980s. In a different setup in the late 1980s and early 1990s I had a 125 gal reef tank. Mostly corals with a few fish. In that tank, my pair of Pygmy Flame Angelfish, Centropyge loricula and trio of Mandarin Dragonets, Synchiropus splendidus, would regularly spawn just after the lights turned off. Of course, I never successfully raised any young because that is too difficult if one is landlocked with no access to tropical plankton to fee the young but some have been successful in tropical Pacific and Caribbean ora.com facilities. Most major public and commercial marine aquariums use Instant Ocean because it has high predictable quality at reasonable prices.

> 3 dayHi, did extensive research before deciding on Instant Ocean. It has all the correct amounts of minerals and trace elements. Best price by far. My fish have lived long and happy with this product. Highly recommend it. Please stay safe and healthy
