Instant Ocean Sea Salt (10 gal)

> 3 dayThis salt mix has been around since the beginning of time. It is affordable, mixes up easily and quickly with no reside in the container, and it is consistent. I have used this in fish only systems along with reef setups. It works equally well with both. If you have a soft coral or LPS tank there is really no need to be using more expensive salt mixes. Unless you have a lot of LPS and SPS corals, at which point it does not matter what salt mix you buy because you will be dosing daily or weekly anyway. The best deal is the 200 gallon box when it is on sale for $40, and if you have prime it ships for free. How much better can a deal get?

> 3 dayDissolves easily but do not use chlorinated water directly from tap. Allow chlorine to dissipate over night before adding salt.

> 3 dayAlternatives like even instant oceanss Reef Crystals, dont work as well and raise values like calcium and alkalinity beyond what you would really want. In cases like this, plain is better. Stick to standard Instant Ocean if you want best effect for your reef/saltwater aquarium.

> 3 dayI like the fact that I can buy a bag of this salt for 50 gallons on Amazon and have it delivered to my house for the same price of a small box for 10 gallons of the same product at the pet store. The mark up at the big box pet stores is ridiculous!!! This is my go to brand as it dissolves quickly and my water is always crystal clear after my water changes. Iv been using it for at least 10 years. Highly recommend!

> 3 dayI opened my box, and their is an inch hole in the bag and the salt has drawn in moisture. I’m sure I can still use the salt because it dissolves in the water anyways. But when I opened the box, salt spilt on my carpet. I have ordered several bags of salt before and haven’t had any problems. Not sure if the bag got ripped open from handling or it was sent like this to me. Also noticed the heater I ordered was opened. I do have the heater plugged in and it is operating properly.

Greater than one weekI specifically bought this to use for hatching baby brine shrimps and my bbs have been hatching very well and consistently. I’m sure half of it has to do with the bbs eggs I’m using also, but the hatch rate has been 10x better than my past experience when I was using freshwater aquarium salt. This almost will last me an extremely long time!

01-06-2025After having a couple of hermit crabs die. I decided I will do my best to do everything right. They seem to love sitting in the saltwater pool. They will pee in the freshwater but not the salt. LOL
