so the great thing about this, is I use to buy the 5 gallon salt buckets. MAN one drop of water in there and no you are chiseling your way through the chunks of hard salt now. This box actually has individual bags, so if one bag got wet, it will only affect that bag, the rest of the salt is safe. it happens sometimes when i use my scooper to put the salt into the RO water to make my salt water and a splash will hit the handle or the 5 gallon bucket and then its all over.. I like it better this way for me.

Ive been using this on my tank for years. Its always been a decent price and has worked well for my 75gal tank.

Great value. It seems like the salt to water ratio is high but all my tests are coming out with the right salt concentration.

This stuff mixes so easily. And devolves fast. I recomend it for beginners and experts. The salinity levels are easy and accurate. Adjusting the levels are easy too.

I like the fact that I can buy a bag of this salt for 50 gallons on Amazon and have it delivered to my house for the same price of a small box for 10 gallons of the same product at the pet store. The mark up at the big box pet stores is ridiculous!!! This is my go to brand as it dissolves quickly and my water is always crystal clear after my water changes. Iv been using it for at least 10 years. Highly recommend!

I used to own a tropical fish shop, a commercial FW fish breeder and now just a retired hobbyist. I only use Instant Ocean salts to hatch and/or grow Brine shrimp now. I have always obtained superior hatches using marine salt mixes over rock salt. In the past, Ive cultured some corals but a true measure of a marine salt mix is to have reef fish breed in captivity. I have had pairs of Yellowtail Blue Damsels, Chrysiptera parasema) breed almost every week for months at a time in the early 1980s. In a different setup in the late 1980s and early 1990s I had a 125 gal reef tank. Mostly corals with a few fish. In that tank, my pair of Pygmy Flame Angelfish, Centropyge loricula and trio of Mandarin Dragonets, Synchiropus splendidus, would regularly spawn just after the lights turned off. Of course, I never successfully raised any young because that is too difficult if one is landlocked with no access to tropical plankton to fee the young but some have been successful in tropical Pacific and Caribbean ora.com facilities. Most major public and commercial marine aquariums use Instant Ocean because it has high predictable quality at reasonable prices.

I have been a reef keeper for over twenty years. I have tried virtually every salt, and this is still probably the most cost effective and consistent salt options around. It will leave residue in a mixing station, but that never seems to impact fish or corals. It just means if you use a mixing station you will probably have to clean it out every so often.

I do water changes, 4 gallons a week. For some reason, its never on par with the directions. I have to do 2 1/2 cups to get it to 1.025. But Ive been using Instant Ocean for years and never had salinity shock.
