> 3 dayCpu works great. Performance is unreal. Only complaint isn’t with the cpu itself but with delivery. Only reason for 4 stars is Packaging was TERRIBLE! Box was smooshed so bad I’m surprised it actually works

25-11-2024Upgraded my gaming PC from an old i7-6700k and this thing is FAST! It does run pretty hot though, so make sure your cpu cooler is up to the task and you have good airflow in your case. Bonus feature: Doubles as a space heater in the cooler months!

Greater than one weekI need a new PC mainly to process photos. I was considering AMD Ryzen 7 5800X when I read the benchmark for Intels 12th generation CPUs are better than the 5800X running Adobe software. But it has a bad reputation for hogging power. The attached screen shot shows that power consumption slightly exceed the TDP of 125W during Lightroom batch export. But to my surprise, once the export is finished, power consumption is very low, even less than my AMD 4800H based laptop. Background processing uses the more efficient E-cores.

19-11-2024Overall, I believe at the time of this review that the 12700K chip is the best value for the power you can get. My typical price point is about $350-400 and with 12 cores, it is an awesome upgrade from my 3rd Gen Ivy bridge processor. It was simple to install and worked perfectly with no issues.

Greater than one weekIdles in the 20s. Does require a beefy cooler, Im using a Noctua D15S. I did have a U14S on it idling in the low 30s, but the fan was revved up by default to a level I didnt enjoy. Make sure you need this much power. If youre just gaming get a 12400 instead. This processor trades blows with the amd 5900x. Performance and stability are excellent. I have five nvme m.2 drives on it right now (four on motherboard and another in a card). Everything is lightning fast. Be aware the drivers will NOT work with the older versions of Win10, and you will need to make a newer version of Win10 from microsofts own site. Aside from that minor inconvenience, everything works well.

> 3 dayI produce music and visuals as my main PC usage and I have been super happy with the performance of this CPU. Given some high performance nvme you will not be disappointed.

> 3 dayIntel obviously isnt a slouch when it comes to processors. However, this one really hits the sweet spot between performance and price. Well see what happens when AMD releases the Ryzen 7000 series later this year, but if you dont want to wait, generally prefer Intel, and dont want to spring for an i9, this processor will absolutely take what you can throw at it.
