15-11-2024We began with WeMo smart plugs which performed inconsistently so we switched to Kasa plugs and switches and have been extremely happy. When we needed an outdoor dimmer we ran straight back to Kasa. The dimmer works great and was easy to setup.

> 3 dayMy wife and I have suffered in a living room with terrible lighting for years. Because we rent, we cant install most ceiling lights, and have got by with crummy side lamps. We finally had the bright (ha) idea to buy a dimmable plug-in pendant light, this dimmer outlet, and to run the cables inside an adhesive raceway across the ceiling. Game changer. Not only has our little vampire den been cleansed with healing light, the dimmer functionality and Alexa integration has made it both convenient and versatile. Kasa has nailed it with their very intuitive app for configuring their smart devices, and my only regret is that we did not find this sooner.

> 3 dayLet’s face it - if you’re interested in buying this. You’re probably interested in setting up some outdoor string lights that you’d like to dim, and more importantly add to something like home assistant. You’ll probably never dim the lights, and once you set up a automation probably never touch that either. But it’s all about setting it up and getting it to work right? It’s not like your wife is going to be super excited by how the string lights can be set at different brightness levels for different people outside :) With all that out the way. This is actually smaller than expected, but with the smaller size comes a smaller cord. So you’ll to decide if you want this hanging off your outside outlet or drop in an extension cord. It also connect super easily (local) through to home assistant. Where you can quickly set it up to act as a light entity. Then all the really nerdy stuff of setting up pointless automations can begin. Overall - I’d recommend it - just probably not going to be the coolest thing your wife has seen.

> 3 dayI use them for string lights in the backyard and clear Christmas lights on bushes for accent. They’re excellent for this use. The only negative: Alexa can’t find any grouped items. If you group something and ask her to switch it, she complains that the item can’t be located. She can find every device, but no group names.

> 3 dayI love the functionality that these provide. Easy to setup, configure and use. But this one lasted 8 months before crapping out. It had exposure to water, but it is outside and IP64... theyre using that rating loosely I think.
