This is one of my favorite smart devices. I have a few of my own and have given a few as gifts. Super easy to set up and works great with both Alexa and Google Home. Loved using it with my Christmas tree.

It does exactly what its supposed to do. It plugs in, syncs up, and turns things on...and off... with just the sound of your voice. It took some time activating it. I had to run through the steps twice. I didnt like that I had to download another app (and set up another account), but the app syncs with Alexa easily and it doesnt seem like they send a bunch of emails, so thats good. Good working product for the price. Go get it!

Ive used several of these now for the past year. They integrate seamlessly with Alexa, so I can use Alexa to turn my lights on or off using voice commands. You can also set up the Kasa Smart Plug to work like a timer, to turn your lights on or off at specific times or simulate being home with random on and off times. Ive replace most of my previous timers with these and plan to add a few more to eliminate all my prior old-fashioned timers. They have no problem finding my WiFi network. These have a nice small size, so they leave the other outlet on duplex outlets free. Once you have them set up, you can pretty much forget them. They just work like youd expect.

Ive tried at least a half dozen brands of these type devices, including in-wall switches. Its time to standardize to make it easier to deal with so I chose TPLink. The app works great and the devices work quickly with the Alexa integration. Im giving away all the other brands Ive tried- one app, properly working stuff is all I want now. Its rare that one loses connection, but if they do- it seems they are back online quickly. Ive even decided to go with the whole TPLink ecosystem of cameras and in-wall dimmers. If youre unsure which brand to go with, Ive been into home automation since we used to have to write our own scripts for X10 protocol... theres not much out there I havent tried. TPLink is consumer grade and low priced, but it performs really well. In my case, Ive even used a spare older router just to connect to the 38 automation devices separately from the regular internet devices... Im really happy with the performance and prices.

I connected it to my wifi router I wanted so I could power the router off and on I was able to power the router off with the phone but it would not power the router back on with my phone. I returned back to Amazon.

TP-Link makes some great products for your smart home. Would be 5 stars, but two things made me give it 4. It’s slightly too wide even though it’s a “mini”, and every once in a while it disconnects from WiFi. It’s possible it could be my internet...but I doubt it because others of the same plug still work when one doesn’t. Still a quality product with a good app.

Ive used astronomical timers for some time but have noticed the ones I currently have (Intermatic brand) are pretty sucky. Two of my outdoor ones failed after several years, the replacements dont correctly adjust with daylight savings (sunset/sunrise times stupidly dont adjust), and now my indoor timer just flat out switched time zones to one halfway around the world. The best thing with Kasa plugs is THEY JUST WORK! the outdoor timers were replaced with KASA outdoor plugs, and I love how they just properly work based on what Ive set them too (5 min post sunset). With my luck, it was a no brainer to replace the flaky indoor timer with KASA as well. They have great customization and again, JUST WORK! :)

We love these! We bought a few extra for all of our Christmas lights this year. Being able to put them on her schedule was amazing. I also love to tell Alexa. Hey Alexa turn on Christmas and they all just light up together throughout the house. TP Link Has been the best brand we found so far that carries all smart lights across the board. All forms of smart switches and plugs across. One app to control everything instead of multiple apps figuring out which light or switch is on which app. Some of their switches are a little bit more expensive than competitors however many competitors don’t have the 3 way switches or the dimmers.

The Kasa items that I have are great, this item is too...but...with the outlet on the front of the device it can make it awkward to use behind a piece of furniture. I wish it had the plug on the side. BUT it is a great, easy to use item IF the application is right.

Im using my Kasa Smart Plug to run my low voltage outdoor landscape lights (transformer in the garage) and one indoor light in my living room. The low voltage transformer has a built-in timer, but its easier to just leave it on and adjust the times via app and my iPhone. Same for the indoor light - it used to be controlled by my home security system, but its easier to adjust via the app.
