> 3 dayI really love these plugs. I have plugged them into lamps that dont have smart bulbs and fans that dont have WiFi integration. I havent had the issue with these reconnecting to WiFi that I have read about others having. I have had the WiFi go out multiple times and every time it comes back on they automatically connect without issue. The only thing I think would make them better it to have a USB port on the side but that is just a small thing that doesnt make or break this product.

> 3 dayLove everything about it. Works perfectly. Alexa intervention is perfect too. Only thing is they are a little bigger than I thought they’d be but not too terrible

> 3 dayI kinda hate that phrase but in this case its true. These are cheap and they come with the problems of cheap tech. First of all, I havent connected these to Alexa because... well... no Alexa devices (nor do we want any, shes creepy). So I assume it works well with Alexa, but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ I do have it set up with HomeKit via HomeBridge. This is a home-server kinda deal and takes a bit of technical knowledge to setup but if youre careful following HomeBridges instructions, it shouldnt be difficult for the average person whose buying smart kit. I do have these on a metered, packet-inspected, IoT network and they phone home about as much as youd expect though dont seem to send any more info that is absolutely necessary. I did end up completely blocking them from the internet and route external functions through Home Assistant (a tool like HomeBridge that works along side it to give you great access to non-HomeKit devices as well as IFTTT-like automation). The real drawback on these is that they randomly disconnect from the wifi and dont pick it back up until you physically unplug and replug them. Ive tried just about everything i can think of (and, not to toot my own horn too much, Im an IT Pro and a huge nerd, so Ive covered the feasible options pretty well) to little success. Basically, using these is accepting that you will need to unplug and replug them at least once a month. They do have a little orange disconnected light, so at least its easy to tell when theyve errored out. I have found that running an AI managed network for them helps. Being able to dynamically switch channels, IPs, etc., when they start behaving oddly can maintain functionality longer than even an out-of-the-box unsecured wifi (I got desperate during testing). As for the App it comes with its... not terrible. Setting up a new plug only takes a few minutes and its pretty responsive after that. The App is, however, fugly and generally feels like its an afterthought. Which doesnt inspire trust. I used it pretty much only to set the plugs up then played with it just long enough to realize it sucks. Youll need the app, but if youre going to rely on it rather than using Alexa (probably) or HomeKit youre going ot have a bad time. In the end, theyre cheap, but you need to have the tech skills to compensate for that.

> 3 dayI like TP Link products, I was able to set up all 3 plugs in 10 minutes. bot some other brand wifi plug and had to return them because I could not connect them. Bot TP link router 5 years ago and still going strong. if I knew TP Link has wifi plug, I would have bot them in the first place, not sure why they brand it as Kasa

> 3 dayI don’t have any complaints about these. I love that I can read a book in bed and not have to worry about getting out of bed to turn off the light at night. I love that I can set a timer for it to turn on and off in the evening or when we’re out of town to have the lights turning off and on so it appears we’re at home and awake. I seemingly buy 2 new ones every year. We’re up to 6 now.

> 3 dayI needed a way to remotely turn on or off some circuits in my house. I am not yet using Alexa integration, just the iOS app. Installation and onboarding of the 2 plugs was simple and took less than 5 minutes to bring both plugs online in different parts of the house. They are sold by TP-Link, a fact I didnt realize when I ordered. Knowing they were a TP-Link product would have made my decision to buy this product a little easier because I have good luck with TP-Link networking products with the exception being they are slow to update firmware. My biggest negative is the size. As you can see from the pic, it fits somewhat on a power strip, but it takes out the outlet to the left and right if placed anywhere but first or last outlet. I know the Expressif systems-on-chip well. They are the microcontroller brand most often used in WiFi connected products these days. I have Expressif boards the size of my thumbnail so I know it is possible to shrink the footprint. I suspect theres a relay, some other components such as capacitors, resistors, the led-illumation and pushbutton, and thats about it. The size may be due to the power requirements to handle several amps of power. In conclusion, I need to set up a more complete home automation system and do some more research before buying more. But I would not hesitate to buy these again if they continue to meet my requirements.

Greater than one weekIt’s a good price and generally works as expected. Every once in a while I need to reset one from the app, but they’re otherwise reliable.

Greater than one weekThese worked fine and were easy to set up. You have to set them up in the Kasa app and then link them through the Alexa app. They worked fine with Alexa voice commands, but do do not appear in the Alexa app and therefore you can’t create multiple routines with them. They will only work one at a time which is fine for most, but I need them to turn off my lamps at the same time. I had to return them.

Greater than one weekThese are great plugs but watch the wattage of the device you put on it. I had a heater that would kick on every morning at 7am and shut off at 4pm. A few days ago I smelled a burningplastic smell and looked around and found this was burning. The plug is rated for 1800W and the heater is 1500W. So not sure if it just overheated because of time turned on or just couldnt handle 1500W. Also the plug feels loose where the burn is, but not sure if that is due to the melted plastic, a broken solder joint or what. Either way I had another plug I am using and bumped heater down to 900W and we will see how this goes. I have 7 of these and have never had an issue with them. I hate not giving it 5 starts, but have to give 4 due do risk.
