Klein Tools VDV501-852 Cable Tester with Remote, VDV Scout Pro 3 Test Kit Locates and Tests Voice, Data and Video Cables

I did not purchase this from Amazon but I have the Scout Pro 3 VDV501-851. This was a huge mistake.

Nice tool for checking ethernet cables.

Easy to use and like the wire map ends for keeping things organized. This tester is good for RJ11, RJ12, RJ45, and coax testing.

Great complementary tool for Network wiring. Saves time.

I love this tester. It does just about all you need before getting extra technical and commercial. What I mean is, this is more than enough if youre a homeowner.

Building a home and opted to terminate my CAT6A runs myself instead of electricians that have no clue... And good thing I did because they did some absolutely terrible runs with my provided wire. So I cant even imagine what they would have done with my terminations. But anyways needed a cable tested and a means to make tracing my runs easier being that they didnt label any of the runs.

This is a fairly easy tester to use and it works well testing the integrity of Ethernet cables connections. However, I wasn’t aware there is a different model with a PoE port for testing so if there is any chance you’ll need that, I’d suggest purchasing that model.

I have had two Klein Cat testers. Both developed issues with the remote. The contacts wear in the remote and you start getting false open readings in 12 or 78. Klein does not repair OR does not even sell replacement remotes, I was told I had to buy a whole new tester. Buying a second one, shame on me. The remote went bad AGAIN. I bought a Fluke this time.
