LEGO Ideas 21317 Disney Steamboat Willie Building Kit (751 Pieces)

I bought this set in the Lego store at Disney Springs in Walt disney World. This was an excellent build that took me around 3 hours. Instructions were clear and easy. This was not a terribly challenging build but it was a true joy to bring this Steamboat Willie to life and the smoke stacks move up and down just like in the cartoon. If you are a Walt Disney and Mickey Mouse fan and enjoys Legos then this is a must buy.

I bought this for my brother as Christmas present, he love it so its worth the price to me.

This is an awesome set that really underscores a very important time period concerning cartoons, Disney and the like. Being this Lego set is based off of the first cartoon with sound as well as motion at the same time, I would say the set captures the essence of the cartoon and it is an amazing and great branching out for Lego. I have dealt with (and had fun with) some of the other adult-oriented Lego sets and they are also a bit challenging, as this set is. This one is a good bit easier than the Mustang set I have (thousands of pieces) but this is also one that I will leave together and really not play with. I bet this would probably just go up in value if not opened and I highly recommend considering this if you love collecting these sets.

My wife is a Disney mega-fan, and, over the last couple of years, developed an affinity for all things Lego. This Steamboat Willie kit was, therefore, a winner way before it ever came out of the box. In fact, the box itself looks so collectible, that I’m quite convinced that my wife may have been satisfied to set the unopened box up on a shelf to admire. Thankfully, for myself and two young boys, she decided to crack the seal and let us help build this wonderful set. Although it is not a super complicated, set, there are enough moving parts to achieve a near perfect challenge to fun ratio. When completed, sliding the boat forward spins its paddle wheel and moves the steam pipes up in down in alternating sequence, as seen in the original Steamboat Willie cartoon. The striking black and white styling of this set makes it ideal for long-term display in home or office. I think this will end up being a desirable collector set I in future years. The two included minifigs are great. There is just something about them that provides a different vibe than any other minifigs I’ve seen previously. The same is true of the whole set, really. I don’t want to spoil the excitement that my family was able to share when we opened the box, but I will say that this set packs some surprises, making it even more fun in person than what is captured by the product listing pictures. This is a very fun and attractive set that I cannot imagine that any fan of Disney and Lego will regret picking up. We love it!

It’s not the sellers fault, but received this with a missing piece. I had to call LEGO and wait to get it replaced. Seller pricing is fair and would purchase from them again

Ive got two Lego crazy boys and my older one, in particular, tends to love the Lego Ideas sets. This one is definitely creative, using only black, white and gray bricks to define the original Mickey Mouse Steamboat Willie which was, of course, in black and white. Even though my son wasnt initially wowed, he liked how intricate and solid the build itself was. Its a better than average Lego final product that definitely looks like something different and special; more for display, than play, but a unique and interesting gift for Lego, or Disney, fans of all ages.

Our Grandson loved putting this together and liked that some of the parts move. Nice design. It looks nice on his book shelf.

Besides the fact that this exact cartoon and story and animation from 1923 is remembered with so many happy and joyous childhood memories, this lego build is outstanding to do as it actually is a moving steam engine.I am so excited to do this and see the clear color work of the engine which I would never have believed becomes real as you move thru the directions and see the engine unfold as you build.I highly recommend this for those who are young at heart and need a burst of joy to permeate your life as it has mine. By the end of this process, many pieces connecting to the wheel house were not there and it wa possible to manage to complete it but not as it was done in the instructions which was disappointing.

Received the Legos and it was missing one of the packages of the LEGO pieces so it couldn’t be assembled
