> 24 hourThis is the best one by far. I have severe allergies and this has helped immensely with them especially at night when i go to sleep.

> 24 hourAfter a few months I finally figured out that NONE of the humidifiers mentioned in my original review are suitable for a) guitars, b) heavy use or c) use where water has a lot of minerals (i.e., hard water). The three units mentioned all employ what amounts to an inkjet-like sprayer. These spit VERY FINE calcium particles into the air (along with water) and that effect COMPLETELY COVERS EVERYTHING with a VERY FINE white (calcium) powder. I ultimately, moved to a FORTH humidifier from “AirCare” (also available on Amazon) after visiting a local guitar shop and seeing what they use. The AirCare unit does not use an inkjet-like design. So, no white powder. It’s also much larger and can keep a large room at 47% with ease. After many months with the AirCare, I’ve settled into a routine where I clean its “filter” with vinegar instead of simply changing the filter for a new one each time the machine asks for a filter change. This reduces cost of operation DRAMATICALLY and lets me just fill with hard/tap water. IF you have a fancy guitar and need to control its humidity THE AIRCARE IS THE BEST (arguable only) answer. I have some nice acoustic guitars and live in the desert so a humidifier is a must. I’ve now purchased three different humidifiers (all from Amazon)... 1) this one; 2) the teardrop shaped one you see around here; 3) the Taotronic (blue/white, 4L w/ humidistat). The best choice has turned out be #3. The teardrop one is basic. Turn it on. It runs until empty. The mist is variable but otherwise there are no other controls. This one (Levoit) is the nicest looking. It’s got a bit of an Apple vibe. ...and it holds the most water. Features wise it tops the others with heat (which I could care less about), a remote (which I could care less about) and 6L capacity. You’d think because it holds more water that you’d fill it less often. But that’s not really the case as it tends to pump more water (without any obvious improvement in humidity) over the Taotronic one. The controls appear nicer but that too is misleading. I actually have found it to be LESS intuitive (it seems to ignore my “use the humidistat” option 60% of the time so I just fave up and set it to full auto. That works but it sets the humidity level to 60+% so it goes through more water. Good for plants but too much for my guitars (which want 45-50%). I have to refill them onceveach day or so but the Taotronics is WAY easier to pop the container, fill and reseat. The Levoit is actually a minor pita to refill. Not horrible. Just not the better of the two. The Taotronics also has a humidistat so you can push a button once or twice and ignore it letting the machine work up to the correct humidity and then act like a furnace/thermostat keeping the humidity just right. The Levoit does this too but 60% of the time the ui didn’t do what I expected (and the machine never turned on or never turned off). It’s got a Mac aesthetic but a PC implementation (if I’m making sense). The Taotronics is the opposite (function / ease of use over design aesthetic). Long story short, I’m going to get a second Taotronics and retire this and the hershey kiss shaped on.

> 24 hourWe purchased 3 of these 2 years ago. They all continue to work well. They are easy to clean which has made me more likely to clean them than any other humidifier I’ve ever had. During our recent move, I somehow lost a gasket to one of the basins. Without the gasket, the basin leaks everywhere which effectively means I couldn’t use the machine. I contacted Levoit to buy a replacement part. Although they do not sell or even produce parts for replace, the rep said she would send me one as soon as she could get one. After a couple months, I assumed it was never coming, but today it arrived! I’m utterly impressed that she was willing to keep an eye out for the part for this long and mailed to me free of charge. It’s rare to find home electronics that work well for years *and* have good customer service. I totally recommend these.

> 24 hourThis humidifier works very well in a large room. I have used it in my living/dining room for about 2 years now . I didnt use it over the summers though as there was no need for it. I like the multiple settings and large tank. The problem is that, even though I handled it carefully, it developed a leak in the tank seam between the clear part and the white bottom in less than a year. I used it for a total of 9-11 months and stored it the rest of the time. After storage I filled it and it started to leak. This is a fairly expensive unit and it makes no sense to replace it every year. I have always used distilled water in it and handled it with care. I have searched for a replacement tank but have found none. I tired to seal the tank seam with silicone sealant but that only worked for about 2-3 weeks. Now I have to throw the hole thing away and find something that will hopefully will last. Review Update: 12/19/22: It turns out that while I only used the humidifier for about 9-11 months it was actually over 2 winter seasons so I actually owned it for almost 2 years before the tank started leaking. About 3 weeks after I sealed the tank with silicon sealant, it started leaking again. This time I looked at the base unit and realized I had a 2 year warranty, unfortunately when I checked my purchase date on Amazon, it was 5 days past 2 years. I decided to call Levoit service and see what they could do for me. They said I needed to send them the purchase receipt and a pic of the leaking part. I did and they send me whole new unit. I have changed my rating from 1 to 4 because of the great service. I didnt give it a 5 because it still failed pretty early in its life.

> 24 hourThis is a must if you have a Ikea cabinet. Humidity says all day long with the auto setting. Definitely would recommend.

> 24 hourIve owned around 5 different humidifiers in the last 30 years. This is one is by for the best Ive ever used. I use mine in the bedroom to help with dryness and allergies. It is extremely quiet. If you are awake in the middle of the night you might hear an occasional brief but very quiet gurgle (air bubble). Set the desired humidity level and it will cycle on and off to keep it there. I have mine set at 55% humidity and it seems perfect for me. Mine runs around 10 hours a day and I have to refill it every 5 days or so. I use reverse osmosis filtered water and there is no musty smell in the tank. Ive been using it 4 months and hope it lasts. I did purchase the extended warranty through Amazon just in case.

> 24 hourDoes it’s job but a bit of a pain to clean. I run it almost constantly during fall and winter. Needs a deep vinegar cleaning almost weekly even when using purified water. Otherwise no complaints.

> 24 hourEasy to fill. Quiet. Only reason I didnt give five stars is it takes a lot to learn the functions of the control buttons. Some buttons have multiple functions. Operation is not use friendly.

> 24 hourSo far, it has been a nice unit. Ive had it running for 3 days now. The first time I had to refill it I noticed that the handle is offset so that the reservoir is not balanced well in the hand and that makes it a bit difficult when trying to reseat it into the unit. It definitely takes two hands to put the reservoir back onto the unit - the handle placement makes it back-heavy. I also thought I was going to have to send it back. I hadnt realized that the machine had not turned off when I removed the reservoir. When I replaced it, the display went very dim and none of the buttons worked. Removing the power reset that. When I turned it back on, it registered the current humidity at 80% which I knew wasnt true. I removed the power again, restarted it, and it has been fine since. I have to say I am not crazy about the button feel. I cant tell where to press - there is no feedback but a chime, and the pressure point is not centered in each button. Im also not happy about having to reset the desired humidity and output level every time I refill the unit. And so far, mine has a continuous display of current humidity and then desired humidity. However, they document in MANY places that you can hold the auto button down for 3 seconds to have a blank display and that does work. Its a very nice unit, small and compact. The reservoir holds just over one gallon of water - maybe 10 pounds max. It comes with instructions, a cleaning brush, and an incentive to take pictures for reward. The reservoir is flat so it is easy to refill at the kitchen sink. It is also extremely quiet. The humidity detector is above the oil pad - which I havent tried yet. I think the remote is superfluous but its darned cute. It does seem to put out a lot of mist on the cold setting. I havent tried the heat yet but I think thats a definite plus to be able to choose. It has a 3 level setting for output. On the highest setting, I have to refill the unit about every 24 hours. That should give you an idea of the output on the highest setting. To compare, my pharmacy-purchased humidifier outputs very close to the same amount of water in 12 hours. I have it in a large den so it isnt really fair to try to evaluate the output this way, but I can say in 3 days it has raised its detection of humidity by 3% - which seems reasonable. I did notice the reading creeped up to 40% at one point (erroneously) and cut off the unit even though I had set desired humidity to 45%. I have it sitting on a high table with plastic underneath it. I find that all humidifiers drip water when you remove the tank - its just in the nature of the beast. There is one small problem in that the mist vents cover the handle. I find I have to stick a fingernail into a vent to remove it. I have tried using the machine without the vents in place and that confuses the humidity detector. The vents swivel and one is slightly larger than the other. Despite the minor drawbacks, I think it is a nice unit. But I think I paid mostly for bells and whistles. Update: Drop rating from 4 to 3 stars. Ive had this humidifier for over three weeks now and I wish I hadnt purchased it for this price. First, it doesnt really turn off any more than your tv turns off. It stays in a standby mode when it runs out of water. The blower doesnt run (I guess) until you fill it up. Good in that it keeps a memory of your settings. The other thing that has become very annoying is trying to put the filled reservoir back on the unit. I know Ive mentioned the location of the handle. But when you put the reservoir back on, it has to be completely level and two locations have to match up exactly. So, IMO, it would be a good humidifier at half the price. I paid more than $50 for mine. As it is, its just ok.

> 24 hourI live in a apartment that has a real bad hard water problem and killed my last humidifier. We are talking pink slime and brown mineral build up on the humidifier. I filter the crap out of my water now but still worried that it would not be enough and kill another humidifier so I hesitated to buy one, let alone one for a hundred dollars. But my wife begged me and this went on sale so I decided to give it another go. This humidifier beats the crappy one I got from Costco easily. Not only is it quiet compared to my old one, it also works on a decently large living spaces. It has a button to switch between cool or warm mists and turns on and off automatically to save on refills. My living room has a bar that opens to the kitchen and dining room so I had to take that into account when buying this based on square footage so I had the feeling this wouldnt cover it. (over 900 ft²) But I wanted to gauge it first to see if I needed two of these or if I could get away with buy this and one smaller one. (Its rated for only 750 ft²) Honestly it does the job, I set it to 55 and it did just fine by itself. But because of the room sizes it doesnt shut off automatically very often. I like it so far and my wife loves it. We ended up getting another smaller one from the same company for the room for 40 bucks and that one is pretty good too but slightly louder with the water gurgles. Now here is the only negative things I will say. I gave it 5 stars because one, my room exceeds the rated size and it still performs well. It does produce white dust everywhere, I even found it in my bathroom. It likes to cling to plastic objects but can easily be dusted away. But this is due to my hard water and not the product itself. If you have hard water problems like I do, you are going to want to purchase a demineralization cartridge pack to help. Secondly I noticed that the mist direction can be adjusted to point in two different directions. This is sadly poorly designed because the humidifier measurement is most accurate when it is pointed toward the front of the machine. I have a few devices that measure humidity levels in the house and the measurements on the humidifier were wrong when I had it pointed to the sides. Also read all the instructions before using it. There is a lot of DONT DO this in the manual that I would have missed if my wife didnt point them all out to me. I just wanted to set it up and tossed the manual to the side. I would go over them but there are a lot of things that can destroy the unit so if you dont want to be on the phone with the customer support looking like a fool like I did to my wife for not reading the manual first. Please read the manual. Besides all that stuff its a great humidifier and I am probably going to purchase another one. Just want to wait awhile so my wife stops thinking it was her great idea. Even though it totally was. . . She dont need to know that though.
