Ok, so this thing took some figuring out and a call to CS to figure out how to make this effective. I read some of the reviews that the humidity gage was off so I bought 3 small humidity readers for our room to see how those compared to the reading on the humidifier. You HAVE to make sure the directional circles are BOTH pointing AWAY from the sensor to get an accurate reading, otherwise it’ll read anywhere from 10-20% TOO HIGH. The sensor is on the side near the essential oil thingy so I have this on the very front edge of my dresser facing sideways with the essential oil thing facing the wall. Since I moved it here and spent a few days tinkering w the mist direction, the other sensors in our room and the humidifier have been almost dead on. Oh also, you’ll need to be mindful of where the air flow in your space is guiding the mist because that will also play into how you need to position the directional circles. NEEDS TO BE ELEVATED! We have a small table and that didn’t seem to allow the mist to spread around well enough so I put in on the dresser. With the most recent change I made I may try this again though because... ... USE warm/hot mist. At least that’s what we needed to do to get the humidity to raise more than just 5%. Once I increased the temp (I have it set to full temp and full mist) we can easily get to our desired humidity, which for my partner and I is 50%. I set it at 55% so grant once it drops to 50% it turns on again. Our room at the moment, naturally, is between 29-35% and that’s just too dry for both of us and the cool mist *maybe* got it to 40%. The hotter mist shoots out much higher and stays in the air much longer so I *may* try using that small table again since it’s an ugly eyesore on my dresser. Some other things the instructions recommend, which I didn’t pay attention to until after our first night - def don’t put it near windows bcs even double pane can suck out stuff and it makes it less effective. Also we had them about 5’ from our only two heater vents so i moved it to a location prob 12’ away from those and also, consequently, our bay windows. Now we’re a few nights in and waking up to 50-55% humidity wo dry sinuses and scratchy throats so I feel confident in recycling the box now. For reference, our master bedroom is about 450-500sqft and has a very open floor plan. It’s long and goes directly from our bedroom into an open hall that has our small walk in closet, which has no doors, and at the end of the hall it opens into our bathroom. The only door goes to the toilet room, which is at the furthest corner so we have a pretty long space that can take up the humidity. As for noise, the warm mist is louder than the cool but it’s not a bother to me or my partner. We have an air purifier on a low setting near my corner of the room too bcs I need constant white noise and enjoy clean air and it’s not much louder than that. The woman I spoke to in customer service was super friendly too and def helped me troubleshoot getting the humidity to be in the 50-55 range.

Lots to like about this humidifier but, there are a couple of minor things that could be improved in the next design. As others have said, filling the container is not nearly as simple as it could be with a better design. The container would be easier to clean if the fill hole was larger. The sleep mode works but, when turned back on, it doesnt seem to revert to its original setting. A longer cord would be helpful. The set humidity level doesnt seem to work consistently. Overall a great product; very quiet, well built, so far operates very smoothly. I would highly recommend it.

I dont like leaving reviews until Ive had a chance to break in a product. Well sure enough as much as I love the list and quietness of this product as well as smartphone integration the warm mist is now dead feature. Guess I need to get it exchanged now as I planned on buying a second unit as well. Ill be calling on Monday after speaking to Amazon. 5/30/23 - Unit replaced under warranty. Lets hope this one lasts longer than 3 months. Customer service was great in handleing my issue.

I use this humidifier to keep my plants happy and it seems to be working. If you want to hear it, you have to put your ear right next to the motor and stop breathing. The display agrees with a digital hygrometer I bought separately, so its at least that accurate. Ive had other cheap humidifiers from the pharmacy that are garbage next to this one. If you love your houseplants, its worth the price. After a month, I finally got the app that you will need if you want the humidity to be above 60. The app is meant to control all manner of devices you may or may not have (which I dont), so it is a bit annoying, but thats just old Luddite me. I have been filling it with tap water even though purified or distilled water is recommended, but who is going to do that unless they have access to a huge reservoir of purified water? People that only use it when they are sick? I guess I could lug some reverse osmosis water home from the lab, but no. I havent yet noticed any lime deposits on my walls. What I have noticed is an increase in tiny flies in my apartment. I find them floating in the reservoir of the humidifier, so Im pretty sure theyre attracted to the humidity. I dont know how to deal with them yet. I clean it once a week and refill it in between cleanings. And though I havent changed any filter parts yet, I definitely recommend this humidifier despite the app and the flies. It is the best humidifier Ive ever had.

It is so easy to use. Love that you can set the humidity level, so it doesnt run continuously. And it is accurate; l have a separate humudistat and it pretty much agrees with that of the humidifier. Cleaning is as normal for any humidifier (Ive had several). I would very highly recommend this product.

This is a review of the following product on Amazon: LEVOIT OasisMist Smart Cool and Warm Mist Humidifiers for Bedroom Large Room Home, Auto Customized Humidity, Ultrasonic Top Fill Oil Diffuser for Baby and Plants, Quiet, 4.5L, White Product Information states: Floor Area 430 Square Feet • Fast Relief: Using VortexMist Technology, the OasisMist can increase room humidity by 10% within 15 minutes with up to 430 ft² room coverage. Perfect for bedrooms and large rooms • Healthier & Reliable Mist: Run your warm and cool humidifier for up to 45 hours with low cool mist. The mist output can be up to 550mL/hr and the 4.5-L tank capacity also makes it perfect for bedrooms and large rooms. Under Specifications: Effective Range: 215–430 ft² -------------------------------------------------------- My review is based on the effectiveness of the OasisMist in a 286 sq ft room with an average height of 8.5 feet which equals 2431 cubic feet of volume space. Volume is what has to be used to determine maximum effective capacity of a humidifier, NOT square feet of a room. For the purpose of comparison and evaluation of effectiveness, let’s assume the advertised 430 square feet Levoit states is for the shortest room height of 8 feet. Thus, the volume of maximum capacity it can service is 430 x 8 = 3440 cubic feet. Under specification Levoit states an effective range of Effective Range: 215–430 ft². The lower end obviously accounts for heights higher than 8 feet and possibly other features of a room, such as windows to the outside, that would affect the effectiveness and maybe the introduction of heat on and off during the night. We turn out heat down do 64 degrees F before retiring and the heat may go on about 1 hour before we get up. But, two of the sampled nights were when the outside temperature during the day heated the house where at bedtime it was still at 70-71. Also, most of the observations below were made before any heat was introduced. In summary, the base is a 286 square foot room with a volume of 2431 cubic of air and no heat was introduced. For 4 nights using this OasisMist I found that no matter how it was used, i.e., manually or automatically, I could not get the humidity, as indicated by the display (another matter to discuss) above 61. If you read the User Manual re Automatic mode, you will see it has a default of 60% before it turns off Automatic mode and returns to a lower setting (not explained what it is). If you install the VeSync application (another discussion below) you can change the default (if you set up Voice controls), which I did last night to 65%. I have a medical condition that recommends a minimum of 60% humidity during the night when sleeping, thus, this is my expected requirement for any humidifier. The OasisMist FAILS to meet my requirement reaching on 57-58% after 7 hours of running in Automatic mode, and just reaching 60-61 for 15 minutes once in manual mode on high mist setting. Conclusion: The OasisMist cannot even effectively service a 286 square foot room (2431 cubic feet). My room is about 70% LESS THAN LeVoit’s marketing statements. Humidity Display: I was attracted to the large numbered display that reports humidity. Other reviews mentioned that what is displayed is no where close to actual humidity in the room. How can a sensor in the unit measure humidity in a large room, say, 10 feet away? It can’t without creating an approximation with some algorithm. What you see can only be the actual measurement of the space in close proximity. But, this isn’t the issue that concerned me the most. Despite the humidity display, you CANNOT CONTROL the OasisMist by manually setting the desired humidity and can only change the default point when Automatic Mode with shut off when in Automatic Mode. The OasisMist operation is only manageable by the MIST output, i.e., settings Low, Medium, High. If you need quick introduction of humidity turn on Manual mode and set the MIST level to high. Both output vents will shoot out cool mist. Can you realize 10% increases every 15 minutes as stated in the product information above? NO! It took my unit about 4 hours to increase 15% on High mist level. Now, note that Automatic Mode controls the levels automatically, NOT the actual humidity. It will start out at High mist level and based on the table in the User Manual, drop down to Medium and then Low based on the reading it senses. Just to be clear: You get to manage humidity ONLY by changing mist levels! VeSync Application: You really want to set this up with Voice control. The instructions are not close to being close to do so though and some ingenuity and experience with mobile phone and either Alexa or Google applications are required. VeSync does excellently connects to your router (be ready with your password) and connects to Bluetooth (prompts nicely to get the job done). Now you need to define your device, I called my humidifier Bob, to VeSync and it connects via Bluetooth. If you follow the instructions, you might think you ready to use voice after following the instructions. However, you have just established in my case that Bob can be controlled by VeSync. Left out is that if you are using Goggle “Hey Goggle” commands, Google must be set up too to link to your VeSync application. So, you need to ensure you have Google assistant from Google Store, go into assistant and establish voice for VeSync by linking to it. Once BOTH Google and VeSync are set up, the “Hey Google” command for Bob (my humidifier name) with flow from Google to VeSync which will pass it on to the unit itself. It really is spiffy. Now the rub. You ask why do I have to use voice. The only specific reason is if you want to change the 60% in Automatic Mode to a different default, like 65% that I used -- no other way to do so. Other Features: • I love the size and design of the OasisMist. The use of the removable basin that has a handle is priceless. The tank hold 1.1 gallons of distilled water which is not that heavy to insert into the unit onto the base. Slick. • The controls are well designed on the front panel and so easy to use. The access to the filters (water and mineral absorption) is simple and convenient. • The use of VeSync application to set up a time schedule for operation allows the obvious on/off at a time, but also lets you set up modes and mist levels. A separate Timer is provided that allows you to turn the OasisMist off after a set period of time. Once again, VeSync is a must have to simplify controls even more than the physical panel controls. • I didn’t use the Warm mist, so I can’t comment on it other that two vents are on the unit. One is used for the warm and one for the cool mist. However, the Warm mist vent is preempted if Cool Mist is set High in which case cool mist comes out of both vents. • It is completely silent – to me who has a hearing deficiency that is. My wife who was closest to the unit heard only a drip every 10-15 seconds. • Filling and cleaning is a breeze. My Rating for this review unfortunately must heavily depend on whether the OasisMist met my expectations of effectiveness given the marketing information stating it will. Since it didn’t come close, I have to basically ignore all the other great features. Maybe it should be rated a 1 because it did not meet expectations as defined, but in a smaller room it would probably be a 5 after the VeSync is operatable. So, I’ll choose a 3 to denote a caution to users who are looking at this for a Large room and to get their attention to point out the very positive features listed above.

This is the third humidifier Ive tried to humidify our bedroom. I suppose our bedroom would be considered large-ish? Medium-large, at any rate. Every other humidifier has utterly failed in getting our humidity up in there. Our house is consistently in the teens for percent humidity in the living room (which is right outside our bedroom) because of the wood stove. Since we got this humidifier, Ive been running it starting at 6 or 7 PM and running all night long until I get up in the morning around 7:30. And only since we got this humidifier have I been not waking up dry as a bone and unable to sleep because my throat, mouth, and nasal passageways are dried up. I dont even sleep with my mouth open and this is how its been feeling this winter! This humidifier works like a charm! I love how I can completely turn off the light. ANY bit of light in our bedroom at night bothers me. This machine is also completely quiet from what I can tell, but I sleep with a noise machine for a consistent fan noise anyway. I dont really go by the humidity % on the machine because Im skeptical about how accurate it is. I mean, it probably is 46% humidity in the area directly around the machine, but that doesnt do much for me 7 or 8 steps away by the bed, where I know its not. So I just let the machine run on high all night and I havent had a problem of over humidifying, so theres really no need to set the machine to turn off at a certain humidity or time. I really wish I could just fill it from the top. Im not really sure why they couldnt have made a screw cap on top in the back for that. Its kind of a pain to take off the nozzle piece where the steam comes out, then lift up the whole basin with the handle and flip it over to fill it, then handle the heavy basin to put it back correctly without clumsily knocking it or something. I havent needed to clean the unit yet, but reading the instructions kind of make that sound like a pain, too. Filling it and cleaning it are probably the only cons Ive found so far. I bought a ZeroWater filtering pitcher to fill this machine with to hopefully prevent mineral buildup. I havent had any white dust accumulate on anything so I assume its working so far. Im also using the pitcher for my houseplants. The only con for that thing is the fact that it takes forever to filter all the water needed to fill the humidifier each night. But thats not a con for the humidifier, obviously.

With the dry winter air in the bedroom overnight, my cats chronic rhinitis was flaring up -- he sometimes sneezes 8 or 10 times in a row and his eyes look sore. I set this up on a bedside table -- it is so quiet -- and it runs all night on a gallon of distilled water (cool mist). In one week, his congestion has improved, few sneezes and little eye discharge. He sleeps on the side of the bed where the mist descends. Also, he can be a picky eater: stuffy nose, impaired smelling ability, loss of appetite. His appetite has improved. Happier cat for sure. UPDATE: 2 months later. I switched to Brita-filtered water without any problem so far, because buying 7 or more gallons of distilled water per week is too costly. Use distilled white vinegar to rinse and wipe out tank and base once per week. ALSO, this is not top-loading. You do not bring the water to the humidifier. Instead, you remove the tank, flip it over onto a flat surface, remove (and replace) a large cap, pour in water, flip it back over, and set it back on the base. This is easy for me to do, but a gallon of water is heavy and any person with arm/hand strength issues may have a hard time. STILL, my cat and I are free of the usual winter allergy-noses and the machine works very well, shutting itself off when the desired humidity is reached.

I have a regular cold mist humidifier and it doesn’t work as well as this one. When I use just a regular cold mist humidifier I end up with a bad cough and sinus congestion. But this model of levoit humidifier I have an option for warm mist and it comes with two different types of filters for the water. I have always used distilled water for this humidifier and with the two filters it’s amazing. It can raise the humidity level within a few minutes on the low setting. It also barely makes any noise besides on the highest temperature (warm mist only). Cleaning the product is also easy since most of the parts can be removed and dried. The app feature is also a plus.

I like it alright. I think it’s a good humidifier. The only thing that annoys me about it is that I only get one night out of it before I have to refill the tank, and also if it runs out of water, instead of turning off, it just continues to try starting over and over again and it makes a noise when it does that, which is annoying. I wish it would just turn off when it runs out instead of trying aimlessly to start over and over again until I wake up and turn it off.
