I bought an MX518 back in 2006 for my one of my first computer builds. It fit perfectly into my hand years ago. The button layout and placement felt second nature. This new version feels and contours to my hand the same as the one I bought back in 2006. That mouse lasted through 15 years of games, school work, and boredom. Hopefully, this new one lasts just as long, if not longer. The only difference I can find (aside from the design and higher accuracy) is the left and right click buttons are a little louder and stiffer than the old one. However, thats more than likely due to 15 years of wear and tear.

As a gaming mouse it just works perfectly, and fits my hand comfortably. The Hero sensor makes it precise and lightning fast. My friend have remarked that I must be using a macro as my shooting is so accurate and fast. I purchased a second one, even though the first one is working perfectly fine as a spare.

Dont know if its just the mouse I received, but the mouse tracking feels strange. Cursor moves smoothly sometimes and then all of a sudden stutters for a split second causing me to have to lift the mouse and move it again for the cursor to cross the screen. Movement was better a textured mat compared to my mouse pad or just a hard smooth surface, but disappointed that my old mouse (also logitech) that Ive been using for three years on a mouse pad still works better.

I like it, along with many other Logitech items I use, but its not great. First, let me say I have rather small hands for a 6 ft. tall male, and sort of stubby fingers. That said, Ill have to say Ive had difficulty for a long time finding a mouse that works well for me. Best one I ever used was the CM Storm Xornet. LOVED it. It fit my hand perfectly. Trouble is, they dont make it anymore. Anyway, this mouse has a long protruding butt on it that turns the mouse counterclockwise in my grip, causing the left trigger to be too far to the left than I want. Result...my pointer finger always rests on the mouse wheel, and to left click, I have to stretch my stubby pointer finger over to reach the left trigger. This may not affect many people, but Im just giving my 2 cents here. Other than that, it has been great. Responsive, not too expensive, and the Logitech Hub software, which I personally dont need, works well with the device.

I have been using an MX518 for several years. My previous one served me well for a very long time, but had finally started to wear out. Happy with its performance, I ordered what looked to be an identical model. I was not entirely happy with the build quality. Although it has the same model designation, this mouse is clearly made with cheaper materials than my last one. Everything from the thickness of the cord to the weight of the mouse itself is nowhere near what the previous unit was. I am the type of person that once I find something I like, I will continue to buy the same thing again and again. Although the replacement mouse has functioned fine thus far, given the changes in build quality I will likely not automatically purchase the same unit in the future.

I think the seller send me a counterfeit product, since the serial number on the box mismatch with the label on the mouse. Ive included photos to verify the problem. The mouse itself feel very uncomfortable to move around because the sensor sometimes random slow down, make this mouse lack of precision when playing fps shooters or fast pace game. The left click seems very stiff and not like my old g400s which has a much better click response, the button feels smoother with crisp. Maybe Im just unlucky enough to received a defective mouse.

Used this shape with the g400 and g400s, tried a few other mice after like the g303 g305 g402 g603 rival 300.. but nothing is even close to as comfortable as this mx518/g400 shape for full palm grip. Compared to the old g400s model, this new model is definitely lighter and the top is a glossy coating. Also a slightly better more flexible cable. It does not have that slightly rubberized plastic coating of the g400s which is a plus or a negative depending on your preference but it does wear off eventually on the old model, so this new version should last a lot longer. Also the sensor LOD is wayyyy lower now so it stops tracking as soon as you lift it, unlike the old model with its red optical sensor that could track when lifted causing spinouts. All the clicks feel much better/newer especially on the top 3 dpi adjust buttons, they are more clicky and reliable feeling than the old version, which stopped working for me To me the only way this can be improved is with a wireless version, please make it happen logitech

I still have an original mx518 that I still use. The pictures with the new and original one. The laser looks different and the newer version is 3.6 oz, 0.3 oz lighter than the original. Feels comfortable enough, got this for $20 on Black Friday from BB
