Its been refreshing going back to the original format of Mario Party. Only 5 boards to play on, but mini games are awesome, and the quality of the recreation of old Mario party is great.

As someone who has loved the series for longer than I care to say, this is a letdown. This could have easily been a $20 DLC pack on Super Mario Party, but instead we get charged $60 for the most anemic entry in the console series. Considering how much I’ve played the older titles this collection pulls from, the mini games got boring quick. And with only five maps to choose from, and no meaningful unlock-able content (hope you like encyclopedia pages, stickers, and soundtrack music) this feels half-baked at best. When you can play through all a $60 game has to offer in one day, something is terribly wrong. Super Mario Party is easily the superior of the Switch titles, in my opinion. And despite other reviewers saying online is great this time around, I have not experienced that. Even with high-speed fiber optic internet, online is still unplayable for me. The lag is so intense that not a single mini game I played was able to run anywhere near a reasonable speed and run until the end without booting me back to the main menu. Maybe directly connecting to Ethernet would solve that problem, but the classic Switch and anyone with a Lite does not have that option. I recommend WarioWare: Get It Together! over this any day of the week - it is much more exciting to play, and comes with more layers of challenges and play styles than this title.

I love the GameCube Mario Party 7. I had to try this one. Not as fun because I am old and can’t figure out my kid’s switch.

It may be a rehash of older games, but its still the best Mario Party weve had in YEARS.

This is my first Mario party in 10+ years. I finally got a switch and this was the first game I picked up. It is a very fun game thats easy to pick up and learn. However the biggest complaints I have that make a 4 star and not 5 stars is firstly, it is an absolute pain to connect multiple controllers especially the built in switch joy cons. Second I wish they had less mini games it kind of got annoying even on a 10 turn play session (the shortest amount of turns you can play) but I had to play over 15 mini games in one match. I understand that random luck put us there but my goodness it drags the game on. I do have a shorter attention span so it probably wont be an issue for most people but it was for me. Otherwise I still recommend it.
