Mario Party Super Stars brings back Mario and the gang for more mini game fun and board game action. This iteration is made up of fan favorite maps and mini games, but I am not sure who decided on that because I never saw a poll asking. The maps are fun and interesting and the mini games are ok. It seems like Mario Party 1-4 got the most love while the others were forgotten. Being the case, most of these game feel incredibly simple and not very intense as they have aged quite a bit. But that is fine! and honestly is good for those who enjoy simple yet fun mini games for all ages. I own all of the original Mario Parties and I think this is a worthy addition for old and new players. Biggest plus is the fast forward button and movement in the game. Things flow so much faster and I love it. Overall great game but I would have liked more more maps and games from other titles.

NDCube finally listened to the fans and gave them exactly what they wanted. While the game is not perfect (too many lucky spaces, items are a bit too cheap, no unlockables) it is by far the best recent mario party and gives me hope that mario party’s future is bright.

This game is such a breath of fresh air on what was a very very dissapointing series of Mario Party games. If you grew up playing the N64 and GameCube versions of the games you will be glad to know that this is a true return to form. It does have some pretty miniscule differences like where banks appear on the boards for example. Otherwise its 100 minigames and 5 boards of friendship ruining goodness and each and every single one is lovingly redone and updated with modern graphics. Even the online is extremely well thought out. You read that right! Nintendo did online correctly! You can easily play online with friends or you can matchmake with complete strangers. This game is truly welcome and resets the Mario Party franchise in a fantastic back to form way.

If youre played Mario party before, you know what to expect, this game doesnt really do anything new - and thats a good thing. The newer Mario Party games have been reviewing worse and worse each time (Excluding Super Mario Party) so a game that takes the best aspects of previous games and combines them into a sort-of Definitive edition is one of the best things they could have done. Honestly, Ive had no issues with the game so far. With fiber-optic internet Ive had no issues playing 3-4 person games online; minimal lag, the ability to rejoin lobbies you disconnected from and disconnected players being replaced with a bot so the match can survive a rage quit. From my casual perspective, this game does everything more than good enough, my only wish they added even more boards and playable characters. (This game has six boards and eleven characters, pretty standard for the series) It should be good fun for your kids assuming they get along well, siblings that fight a lot may have issues. It is also important that the game requires a Nintendo Online subscription for online play, costing three dollars for a month, or 20$ for a year. (Personally, I just buy one month passes as needed)

This has quickly become a family favorite. Even those in our family that dont typically play videogames are enjoying it.

I havent really enjoyed a Mario Party since 7 or 8. I thought maybe I had become jaded and only liked the old ones due to nostalgia. The ones after that changed up the formula, but unfortunately, not for the better. Super Mario Party, the previous Switch Mario Marty, had a lot of good ideas and was a return to classic form. It even had good minigames on average. But bad balance (and thats saying something for this series) having only four lackluster maps really drained the fun out of the experience. Im happy to say that Superstars delivers on the complete experience, despite being clear nostalgia bait. The minigame selection is for the most part perfect. The boards are interesting classics, with slight tweaks to make them more reasonable for items and innovations after the game they occurred in. Even the hub world has heart thats been sorely missing. The items are better balanced in general. The master CPU AI is not completely pathetic. They even made lucky spaces actually useful (Im still mad that in Super Mario Party nobody thought that awarding only 4 coins on a lucky space would make them worth less than a blue space on the final 5 turns, what were they thinking). In short? It might be the best Mario Party of all time. Highly recommend.
