    Greater than one week

Great set of headphones, havent quite got the fit right yet so I sometimes get a bit of ear strain. Nice and loud compared to my Void Elites that I was using previously. Have yet to use them with a proper DAC but going of how they sound now I think they will work great.

really loved these headphones but returned them due to cosmetic issue. In my opinion the headphones I received should have been sold as B stock or Blem as the wooden cup had a natural wooden knot at very edge but was filled in with some type of filler that appeared pinkish after final finish. Though it was a small knot/flaw it caught my eye everytime I picked them up and bothered me as I paid full retail with no discount. They sounded great so I may re buy them again and hope for better quality control.

These are some of the best headphones Ive ever owned. They sound great, fit well and are comfortable. They even cancel out outside noise. Downside is they create their own noise that does not get canceled out. Especially notable if you take them on a walk. The metal band on arching over the top is loud if anything touches it. even just rubbing your finger over it is too much interference. The cord makes noise if it bumps or rubs against anything, but its not as bad as the overhead metal band. Youll notice the downside if youre sitting back and move your head around or if your scratch your head and bump the metal band on top. or if the wires are rubbing anything. Laying still its fine, walking around its mostly the wire rubbing on your clothing thats noticeable. I love the look and the sound of these headphones. Hopefully a successor will come out that fixes the small problems. Theyll be perfect then.

Great headphones! Build quality is great. I love the way the wood cups look. The headphones are comfortable and they didn’t get warm for me as others have stated online. I like the fact that they are very efficient and you don’t need a headphone amplifier. The sound is the best I have heard for the price. I auditioned Sony, McIntosh, Grado, hifiman and Bose. The mid and highs are stellar. Very clean and silky smooth. Spacious. The bass is a little heavy but not over bearing. That can be adjusted with your device. I use the Astell & Kern AK240 for my playback device and the headphones are very dynamic and a joy to just sit and lose yourself with a great album. In Greek Meze means appetizer and they for sure wet your pallet. I don’t have any reservations recommending these headphones.

I have heard instruments and background that I have not heard before using these headphones. These headphones are so enjoyable and surprising because it makes listening to my LPs a new experience. I am a hearing aid user. I had to use semi-closed domes to keep feedback down. But this is a minor issue. The reason for the four star review is that the cord is not coiled. I have stepped on it several times and yanked it out of the jacks on the headphones and audio receiver. Thankfully the cord did not break.

These are great headphones. The comfort is incredible; they are so light you can easily forget you’re wearing them. I find that I spend way less time adjusting these than other headphones I own. They also look great, and the long and short cords and case included are really nice additions. I really love the sound signature on these headphones, very fun and punchy. I’m a big punk and garage rock fan which because of poor recording or mastering can be almost unlistenable on more detailed/neutral headphones (sundara’s). Not on the Meze’s. Even the Stooges Raw Power sounds pretty good on these. Bassy hip-hop or dance music are absolutely delightful on these. Two notes of caution: 1) these are super sensitive, so if you plan to run these off a headphone amp, a low gain setting is a must. Running these from my ifi zen 2 dac, with low gain turned on, I can barely get past 9 o’clock on the volume knob. On the plus side, you’ll have no problem at all running these from a phone. 2) If you want to run these balanced, I think you’ll need to buy the cord from Meze. I have a balanced 4.4 to 3.5 cord, but the ends won’t fit through the hole in the ear cup to the actual input. Overall, these are a super fun, daily-driver headphone. I would recommend these to anyone looking to up their headphone game.

Bass isnt as pronounced or visceral as my last pair of Sennheisers- and Im a sucker for deep, hardhitting electronic stuff- but these feel so balanced and the midrange is glorious. Highs are nicely smoothed out with no hint of shrillness. Perfect for vocals and acoustic sounds! As others have said, noise isolation is zero but thats not necessarily a bad thing- your housemates will be able to get your attention without stealing em off your head!

This is an initial review after a little less than a day of use. So far I am extremely satisfied with the Meze 99 Classics. I got them to replace my recently sold Mr Speakers Mad Dogs, which were excellent sounding headphones but were big, bulky, and I didnt find them terrible comfortable. I wanted a pair of good sounding, closed-back headphones that could be used either at home with my Schiit Bifrost/Lyr stack or on the go out of just my LG G4. So far these are filling out my desires excellently. The Mezes are exceedingly well made and very nice to look at, being made out of mostly metal and wood. A nice bonus is that despite being solidly constructed from metal and wood, these are fairly light headphones. Almost an entire day of wearing them at my desk at work has gone by and theyve yet to feel uncomfortable or put too much pressure on my head. The sound is definitely excellent, although possessing more of a fun sound signature. Those looking for hyper-detail accurate headphones may not be as interested in these. As Ive been listening to the Mezes as I work, I cannot give a detail breakdown of the sound but I can say that they certainly sound excellent. For someone looking for a fun sounding headphone that can be used at home or on the go, these are definitely a pair worth checking out!

I was super stoked to get these headphones and man, they did not disappoint UNTIL one of the earcups started shorting out just about a minute into the song. The input on the ear cup appeared to be loose and would short out unless you wiggled it. Very disappointed since I’ve been saving up for these. I will be returning them.

If you look at reviews, people rarely have much bad to say about the Meze 99s. After having them for a few days, I can see why the comments are typically good. Heres my quick take. First, these are really nice looking phones. Fashion cans, as some call them. They seem of excellent build quality and finishing. I havent noticed any flaws out of the box. Uniform wood grain, generally well sorted. Im a sucker for natural wood, so that gets them off on a good foot. These arent very weighty or massive, in terms of full sized headphones. They feel sturdy, though, with everything depending from a spring steel headband. The auto-fit feature works well, making them a breeze to put on. Comfort is good, but not perfect. I find that my ears *just* touch the internal cavity wall of the phones sometimes, and this can build into slight discomfort. But very minor. The ear pads themselves are cushy, and theres a reasonably light clamping force. These wont be good for jogging around or doing parkour. The sound has a strong bass foundation, and goes deep enough to catch the pedal tones of a pipe organ with authority. Nuance is good, but not hyper-critical, as some headphones get. Overall, its a good mix of detail and forgiveness/fun. The 99s are not trying to be perfectly flat in response, but to instead give you a visceral and exciting presentation. Mission accomplished. Nothing is bloated, distorted, or exaggerated. No lack of mids or highs, but not fatiguing levels of either. These are VERY EFFICIENT. Powering them with a portable player or your phone wont be tough. On my Dragonfly Black amp, I am at loud on volume 3/100. Yeah. Concert volume at 5 or 7. Quiet at 1/100. So there you go. Sound isolation is pretty good. Youll notice nearby trench warfare, but the whir of a fan or the clothes dryer will largely fall away. Thus far, worth the money I paid, no question.

The Meze 99 Classics delivers perfect natural sound even to the pickiest of audio lovers. The walnut wood ear cups, soft ear pads, and the spring steel headband will make the 99 Classics an heirloom rather than just a pair of headphones

WOOD TECHNOLOGY

The choice of wood is an inherently difficult one. The rich colors of walnut require the use of air drying, a long and expensive procedure. The process of shaping just a single pair of earcups takes up to 8 hours. The whole process of sanding, lacquering, and finishing lasts 45 days. The wooden components are carefully inspected and no flaws are permitted to reach the final assembly.
