> 3 dayGreat set of headphones, havent quite got the fit right yet so I sometimes get a bit of ear strain. Nice and loud compared to my Void Elites that I was using previously. Have yet to use them with a proper DAC but going of how they sound now I think they will work great.

> 3 dayThe build and sound quality are excellent from the price point. It is very comfortable for long sessions. I only wish the 4.4mm cable was included.

> 3 dayMeze has a solid performer in the Classic 99’s. I’ve worn them for hours and they are comfortable even on my 8 1/4 hat size cranium. Headphone sound reproduction analysis is a subjective topic. For me, the Meze phones are warm with good bass, distinct tonal separation and a comfortable high end that lacks shrillness. The Meze 99’s are physically “noise cancelling” because they are sealed over the ear models, not open headphones like many of the Grado Headphones. They do NOT have specific noise canceling technology but they are far quieter than any noise canceling headphones I currently own including Bluetooth noise canceling earbuds. The Meze 99 phones come with a two cords. A shorter cord for phone and general audio use and a longer cord that lacks the integrated phone functionality. The build quality and overall appearance are superb. The walnut exterior is as warm as the tonal qualities. I use a circa 2006 McIntosh MVP-861 CD player with an IFi Zen Air Can MZ-99 headphone amp that is purpose built for these Meze 99 phones and adds to the balance and warmth of the Meze 99’s. I bought the Meze 99’s refurbed and they were a great value and looked brand new on arrival. That reduced the list price by more than 1/3 making the Meze 99’s as good a value as they are a headphone. The Meze 99’s are ideal for a weekend or rainy day listening session. I’ve grown to like them very quickly and see no “cons”, especially when purchased refurbished. Hope that helps! PS - I had an issue with one of the short headphone cords, it was cutting in and out. I contacted the seller, Audio Exchange, and they quickly sent me a new cable. Outstanding service!

> 3 dayThese were my first pair of audiophile grade headphones; or really any headphones above $100. I got them for gaming and music. I have them plugged into a Schiit Magni Heresy amp, a Schiit Loki EQ and a Schiit Modi DAC. Comfort-wise they are perfect. Zero pressure points, not too hot for stationary use, fairly light on the head. The foam covering the drivers does touch my ear like others have noted, but is not bothersome. This could be rectified with new earcups. Build quality is also fantastic at this price point and even exceeds much more expensive cans Ive seen. The walnut is beautiful and I dont think there is a single plastic piece on these phones. No adhesives or glue. In terms of sound, I will say I wasnt blown away at first listen. I think I was expecting an immediate audiogasm, but they just sounded...clear. After a couple weeks Ive noticed I can pick up a lot more detail and separation between instruments. With the EQ off they tend to have a warmer sound. Highs are modest with the mid-bass represented fully. Low-end bass response is lacking. Many, many reviews labeled these as bassy headphones...but Im sorry they are not. Ill be honest I have $50 TaoTronics cans that have more satisfying bass. I even did a blind listen test on my wife (who has never heard nice headphones) and she preferred the el cheapo TTs. For gaming I think they are perfect. The sound is immersive, clean and neutral overall, without dominance on any part of the spectrum. Imaging is much better on games I normally play compared to my bookshelfs or old wireless phones. All that said these just leave me wanting a little more sound-wise. I fiddle with my EQ endlessly but the sound satisfaction Im looking for just remains elusive. I need to listen to some other models at this price point before making a final call. TL;DR: Fantastic build quality, great comfort, with neutral and somewhat buttoned-down sound. If you want something with hard punchy bass or expansive soundstaging, these are not for you. But great all-around headphones at a totally fair price.

> 3 daySuper comfortable, superb sound quality, and extreme aesthetics. Headphones are easily driven from smartphone and laptop when go to amplification is not available. Sound isolation is superb at 1-2 volume notches. Overall would recommend and would definitely buy again. I purchased both silver and gold to determine which I would keep and the hardest part was determining between the wood grains/staining; theyre both so unique!! If youre flirting with the idea, just buy them.

Greater than one weekI previously had the Drop version of these which I had RMA’d due to loose plug connection in the ear cup itself causing the audio to cut in and out when there is too much movement in the cable / lateral pressure to the plug. This one had the same issue as the two Drop meze 99s. so three of these Meze 99 have had left/right Channels cutting off. Unfortunate because these are actually fun headphones for upbeat music. The bass is nice for DNB, techno, hip hop, funk, etc. Still leaves enough clarity in the highs and mids and the soundstage is surprisingly ok for closed cans . I prefer my sennheiser HD 500s or any HD600s longer wear sessions

> 3 dayIm no audiophile. I just wanted good headphones to game with and listen to music. I used an equalizer and an apple usbc to 3.5mm adapter as an amp. To me, these sounds amazing. The bass can be headache inducing honestly if you arent careful with the equalizer. Soundstage seems pretty good for gaming. Ive always had issues with headphones being comfy for an hour or two and then you start to feel it. These are the most comfortable pair of headphones Ive ever worm. At first, it doesnt feel like you are wearing anything. Build quality is fantastic, I love how they look and the style. Im not sure I would use these for outdoor/outside use, they seem a tad flimsy and fragile? I havent tested it but that is just my 2 cents.

20-11-2024As I suspected, the 99 Classic is easily worth the price. Of five pairs of hp I own, theyre the cheapest of all. But the sound from the 99 is very far from being cheap. Certainly more bass than my Oppo PM-3, even with upgraded ear pads.

> 3 dayCaught these on prime day for $247 for that price these are beyond amazing! To start I don’t have oodles experience with high end hp’s, these are warm sounding with exciting, fun sound. They aren’t going to be the most analytical hp out there but for 80%-90% of people these will be all you’ll ever need. I run these with a ifi nano black label amp/dac and it does improve the sound quit a bit. Ppl say these are bass cannons I disagree and find them to have great bass, they are tuned very well and just sound great. You won’t be disappointed.

> 3 dayI was sent a defective product. The Right headphone plug is missing the aluminum stem and tape was left on the cord presumably from some aberrant manufacturing procedure. This appears to be a purely cosmetic deficiency. The 99 Classics sound amazing but I was also hoping to buy from a company with good manufacturing practices and quality controls. Edit: The customer support I received from the Meze team was wonderful. It is clear to me that that they highly prioritize the happiness of their customers. The original rating was 1 star because of the defective product but the new rating is 5 simply because of the great experience I have had communicating with their support team. If you also happen to receive a faulty product for whatever reason, Meze will help you until the problem has been solved.
