My original review with 5 stars:

I should have read the review. This unit came in generic cardboard packaging, rather than the original packaging. So I got suspicious and checked the reviews here, and there are others who also received them in cardboard packaging. So I checked the warranty. The warranty was activated some 3 months before I bought this. Ive used it for 3 days now, and have already installed and set it up, and so far I have not encountered any issues with it. But THE ADVERTISEMENT SHOULD HAVE SPECIFIED THAT IT IS A REFURBISHED UNIT. Others here have gotten Surface Pro 6 instead of 7. This makes sense if they are selling refurbished units. This is a false advertisement. I thought about returning it (and possibly start a class action lawsuit), but that is so much bother and work... So I am not returning it, but I am not happy.

The Microsoft Surface line is still the best tablet for folks who need to use full desktop packages on the go. Pricing is similar to the iPad Pro series (once you get the keyboards and stylus for each), but you are getting a full desktop experience here. So less compromises on the applications you may need to run. Latest i7 plus a decently fast SSD makes this a good portable workhorse. Battery life is not ideal, and you will hear the machine spin up when youre running bigger apps, but the portability and light weight is generally worth it. Light gaming is possible with the i7 Iris graphics, and you can do work with both Photoshop and Lightroom without spending too much more time than on your main machine. If your need for a mobile computer is Work first rather than Create first, then this will be your best bet.

I had a Surface Pro 4 a few years back, I still have it but dont use it. Poor battery life and it would freeze up all the time. Extremely irritating.

While the battery is not the best feature, I like the form factor as it is thin, light and versatile. I choose to use the 16gb model and i7 processor for extra capabilities. I have even been able to edit a few light video projects using Davinci Resolve. The fans are quick to ramp up for this as expected, but it is pretty capable.
